New Exclusive Sales Partnership Gives NeoMedia’s Gavitec AG Additional Revenues of Several Hundred Thousand Euros from Asia
Omniprime to be Only Philippine Firm Offering Gavitec Mobile Solutions
FORT MYERS, Fla. & AACHEN, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gavitec AG - mobile digit, a subsidiary of NeoMedia Technologies Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM) and a leading provider of mobile technologies and marketing solutions, said today it has significantly strengthened its exclusive partnership with Philippine mobile marketing specialist Omniprime by finalizing a new exclusive licensing agreement.
“Omniprime is an important partner in the East Asia Pacific region, and as of today is the only company in the Philippines offering mobile solutions for ticketing, couponing and payment based on code-reading technology from Gavitec,” said Dr. Christian Steinborn, a director of Gavitec AG. Dr. Steinborn said this agreement provides Gavitec “with substantial sales opportunities, guaranteeing a minimum order volume of several hundred-thousand Euros annually.
“The availability of government subsidies make the Philippine mobile telephony market ideal for mobile marketing activities based on SMS or MMS,” Dr. Steinborn said, noting that “Omniprime's extensive sales network should significantly aid the marketing of Gavitec EXIO™ and MD-20™ scanners.” Omniprime’s partners include Smart Communications, PLDT, Wolfpac Mobile and ABS-CBN-Interactive, as well as other leading Philippine network operators, mobile content providers and multimedia producers.
"With Omniprime, Gavitec has gained a partner with great experience in the East Asian market,” he said. "The Philippines are, in a sense, ‘world champions’ in SMS text messaging. Conditions are ideal for mobile solutions based on text and picture messaging, especially in the area of mobile ticketing where NeoMedia and Gavitec AG expect a significant increase in demand in the near future."
Gavitec Offers ‘Unique Levels of Code-Reading and Performance’
Annabelle Margaroli, president of Omniprime Marketing Inc., said that, "Gavitec’s code-reading systems offer unique levels of performance and reliability. We are very pleased to be co-operating with a leading technology company and to be able to offer mobile services of this quality on an exclusive basis."
Numerous innovative services for mobile phones are based on Gavitec technology, with a large variety of data content capable of being sent as two-dimensional codes (data matrix) via SMS to any commercially available mobile phone, including entry tickets, coupons or vouchers. The Gavitec system displays a code on the mobile phone, which can be read by the Gavitec EXIO or MD-20 laser scanner. A fraud-proof automatic validation via GPRS automatically compares the data with a central database, as Gavitec’s code-reading technology transforms the mobile phone into an optimal platform for electronic verification.
