posts 0 Reply Okay, the complaint against Fry's is only over $75,000 - but there could be a lot of company, who must later buy a license. For example Gannet had licensed this patent.
"Local's complaint against Fry's entered into a US District court in Southern California in June of 2012 for $75,000, charging infringement of the '453 patent. Two months later, Fry's put in a counterclaim against Local. Discovery dragged on until the judge ordered a cut-off date of last March with the jury trial set for June 11th (but later continued to July 2). After more legal maneuverings, a Markman hearing was scheduled for August 28th and a new trial date set after the hearings. Patent language is confusing and since 1996, Markman hearings are used more and more in disputes to let judges decide what the patent claims mean."

Denn immerhin hat man 10% des US-Volumens geschafft und ich konnte dabei für 1,15 kaufen, was ich als sehr positiv empfinde.
Big for Local Corp
In a global economy that has near-instant access to everything, maybe it’s time to start thinking local.
Mobile internet is responsible for an ever increasing share of the world’s search traffic, and people aren’t just searching from their mobile device, they’re searching local. The thing is, most don’t realize that this isn’t just a niche audience… it’s estimated that 2014 will be the year that more searches will be performed from local devices than from your laptop or desktop at home.
Why does this matter?
Mobile search traffic is largely local and businesses are overlooking the value of local search engine optimization. This is set to becoming a booming industry and yet it’s largely being ignored by those it could be benefitting the most – local businesses.
For example the 10. Patent of 12
Local Corporation Granted U.S. Pay-Per-Call Patent
Patent Can Help Company Monetize Multi-Billion Dollar Mobile Advertising Market
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 27, 2012-- Local Corporation (NASDAQ: LOCM), a leading online local media company, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted the company patent number 8,306,208, which covers a pay-per-call Enhanced Directory Assistance method or system.
Issued on Nov. 6, 2012, the patent describes an Enhanced Directory Assistance (EDA) method and/or system whereby pay-per-call advertiser listings are provided to consumers in response to directory assistance inquiries. The company believes that the patent may cover numerous pay-per-call EDA inquiry methods, such as text and the latest voice command search integrations offered on many of today's smartphones, as well as traditional voice-based EDA inquiries.
"Borrell Associates estimates that approximately 5 billion Enhanced Directory Assistance (EDA) inquiries from mobile devices will be made in 2012, along with 1 billion more from landlines. EDA is gradually transitioning into an advertiser-pays model, with pay-per-call representing the advertising vehicle," said Heath Clarke, Local Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. "We believe this patent may represent a core intellectual property component of the emerging pay-per-call mobile ad industry because it contemplates the provision of pay-per-call ad listings in response to EDA searches. We're pleased that this patent validates the considerable time we have spent developing our intellectual property in the area of performance advertising, including EDA."
The patent also provides a method and/or system for dynamically ordering pay-per-call directory listing results and tracking subsequent telephone referrals. EDA pay-per-call ad revenue is intended to provide additional revenue for carriers. The patent is a continuation of a patent previously issue,

Content marketing will continue to grow in prominence in 2013, according to Pawan Deshpande, CEO and founder of Curata. The continued rise of content marketing will be tied to the consequent decline of traditional marketing tactics, such as print, radio and TV advertising, he says.
“According to Curata’s second annual B2B Marketing Survey, 87 percent of participating marketing professionals are utilizing content marketing to help drive their overall marketing objectives, including lead generation,” Deshpande says. “This is up from 82 percent last year, and 2013 will surely see additional marketers leverage this strategy.”

Millennial Media just announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Jumptap, a deal that brings together two well-known mobile ad companies.
The acquisition press release describes the deal as “a predominantly stock transaction,” with Jumptap shareholders to receive 24.6 million shares in publicly traded Millennial, giving them ownership of about 22.5 percent of the company. (At the current price, those shares would be worth about $209 million.)
“Millennial Media already runs one of the largest third-party digital media businesses, despite mobile being in its early stages,” said Millennial President and CEO Paul Palmieri in the release.
Founded in 2004, Jumptap had raised $122 million in funding from investors including General Catalyst Partners, Summerhill Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Valhalla Partners, and AllianceBernstein, as well as ad giant WPP. As of last year, it was preparing for an IPO, but it seems like those plans were called off.
According to a slide deck just published by Millennial, Millennial saw $177.7 million in adjusted revenue in 2012, while Jumptap saw $63.6 million ($53 million if you exclude portal revenue). Their respective net losses for 2012 were $5.4 million and $13.0 million. (Adjusting for taxes and other expenses, Millennial had EBITDA of $4.5 million and Jumptap had an EBITDA loss of $10.7 million.) The presentation projects that the combined companies will have revenue between $340 million and $350 million, with adjusted EBITDA somewhere between $1 million and a loss of $1 million.
Millennial also released its second-quarter earnings results, with revenue of $57 million and a net loss of $3.1 million.
Millennial also says that the combined stock and cash components of the transaction value Jumptap at $232 million.
