Intershop Announces Success of 5B Technologies as Customer and Partner

Intershop Announces Success of 5B Technologies as Customer and Partner

Intershop Enfinity(TM) Delivers ROI for 5B Technologies and Its Customers

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Intershop Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISHP; Neuer Markt: ISH), a leading provider of e-business applications for global companies, today announced a successful strategic partner and customer relationship with 5B Technologies (NASDAQ:FIVE), a comprehensive business solutions provider. As an Intershop partner, 5B Technologies offers Intershop e-business solutions to its Global 1000 customers. As an Intershop customer, 5B Technologies uses Intershop's flagship product, Enfinity(TM), internally to drive its own e-commerce initiatives, and is already beginning to see a return on its investment. Intershop Enfinity is an advanced sell-side application for global enterprises, designed to enable companies to sell through multiple, complex sales channels and capitalize on Internet and traditional selling opportunities.

Intershop's products play an integral role in 5B Technologies' ability to provide customers with industry leading e-commerce solutions that support numerous business models, multiple sales channels and integration with affiliate sites and marketplaces. 5B Technologies selected Intershop's e-commerce offerings because they enable 5B Technologies to quickly and easily design and develop highly customized e-commerce solutions for its customers. Intershop Enfinity's open, standards-based architecture also offers high scalability, which is necessary to fulfill the varying size and infrastructure requirements of 5B Technologies' customers.

Based on its success deploying Intershop's solutions for its customers, including Cyfit, Ingenious Designs and Raritan Computer, 5B Technologies selected Intershop Enfinity to power its own e-commerce channel for selling hardware products. The Enfinity solution was quickly and easily deployed, and 5B Technologies now uses it to sell networking and hardware products directly to customers. This new, Enfinity-based, automated sales channel is experiencing rapid customer adoption, and will eventually offer more than 12,000 different products.

"We were able to implement Intershop solutions for a number of our customers, in a very short timeframe, and saw how quickly they realized returns on their investments," said Glenn Nortman, CEO of 5B Technologies. "By automating our sales through Enfinity, we are able to increase revenue, while reducing the time spent on the sales process. Intershop Enfinity's inherent ROI, built-in flexibility and out-of-the-box integration have made it the perfect choice for us and our customers."

"The fact that 5B Technologies chose Intershop as both a customer and a partner is a testament to the strength of the Enfinity solution," said Phil Oreste, president of Intershop Americas. "E-commerce is constantly evolving, and Intershop Enfinity gives 5B and its customers the power to capitalize on all selling opportunities -- whether they be e-marketplaces, Web sites, distributors, traditional retail or emerging channels."

EDS Launches New Edition of E.store Xpress to Cut Time-to-Web for e-Commerce Merchants

EDS Launches New Edition of E.store Xpress to Cut Time-to-Web for e-Commerce

Merchants

Company Selects Intershop Enfinity to Power New Offering

Online Shopping Market Expected to Grow to $78 Billion by 2003

PLANO, Texas, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- EDS (NYSE:EDS) today announced a new edition of E.store Xpress, an off-the-shelf tool to help merchants significantly reduce the time it takes to build e-commerce storefronts for the burgeoning online shopping market. As the engine to power one version of E.store Xpress, EDS selected Enfinity, the flagship e-business solution offered by Intershop Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISHP; Neuer Markt: ISH).

Built on Unix and Intel platforms, the new edition of E.store Xpress complements the existing edition, launched at last year's Microsoft's Enterprise 2000 event. The previous edition includes Windows 2000, SQLServer 2000 and Commerce Server 2000.

"This new edition of E.store Xpress, based on Intershop technology, opens the door for more businesses to take advantage of the digital economy," said Brad Rucker, president of EDS bluesphere, EDS' new interactive agency. "For many of our clients, fast time to market -- particularly getting their Web site up and running -- is critical. We've selected Intershop Enfinity as a standard for EDS bluesphere's e-business solutions because the product can be quickly implemented, easily integrated with existing systems and still evolve to meet the growing, changing business needs of our enterprise clients."

EDS' E.store Xpress tool is aimed at the exploding market for electronic commerce. According to Jupiter Communications, U.S. online spending will grow from $23.1 billion in 2000 to $78 billion by 2003.

"When building an e-business solution, there is no substitute for practical experience and a proven track record," said Stephan Schambach, CEO of Intershop. "EDS offers four decades of expertise in all aspects of commerce: strategy, implementation, hosting and Web strategies, along with global reach. These strengths combined with Intershop's world-class e-business solution, means that customers reap the benefits of tried and true technical expertise and cutting-edge technology. Teaming with EDS will help us meet the growing worldwide demand for our products."

E.store Xpress will enable retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and distributors to capture this growth by implementing sophisticated, fully functional e-commerce storefronts on the World Wide Web in a fraction of the time it would take to create a site using labor-intensive manual programming.

The tool contains all of the core functions that virtually all retail and wholesale web sites share. The client selects the functions in E.store Xpress that are required, and works closely with EDS bluesphere's web site developers and designers to add customized functionality and give the electronic storefront a unique and appealing facade tailored to the needs of the enterprise. Typically, an e-commerce site can be set up in approximately 30 days.

Business-to-business (B2B) or business-to-consumer (B2C) companies can use E.store Xpress to their advantage. The service includes cost-competitive site hosting and support services intended to get the company up and selling on the Web in short order.
