Biontech & MRNA: Revolution in der Pharmaindustrie

 

Pfizer hat heute Zahlen zu Q4 gemeldet und damit stark positiv überrascht.
In Q4 geben sie 3,4 Milliarden USD Umsatz durch Comirnaty an:

"Fourth-quarter 2024 Comirnaty(1) revenues of $3.4 billion decreased $2.0 billion, or 38%, operationally compared with the prior-year quarter, driven primarily by fewer COVID-19 vaccinations globally as well as lower contracted doses."

Die Cominarty-Umsätze wurden leicht um +7% Übertroffen. 5,33 Mrd. $ statt 5 Mrd. $ FY2024. Mittelfristig ist damit aber noch kein Boden bei den Umsätzen gefunden. Q1 und Q2 2024 waren schwach. Vielleicht können diese übertroffen werden, das würde helfen.  

Comirnaty wird halt im Frühjahr und Sommer so gut wie gar nicht verkauft, da zählen leider wirklich nur die Gesamtzahlen.
Pfizer hat in sofern stark positiv überrascht, dass in Q4 ein Ergebnis von 0,46$ EPS erwartet worden ist und das Ergebnis 0,63$ betrug (37% übertroffen). Und das ist innerhalb dieses Quartals dann doch ein starker Ausreißer nach oben.
Leider sind die Umsätze aber besondersten Q1 und Q2 so "schlecht", dass es insgesamt allemal für +7% p.a. reicht.
Ich denke aber, dass man von relativ stabilen Impfraten ab jetzt ausgehen kann und dass man die Preise die nächsten Jahre jeweils etwas höher als die Inflationsrate anheben wird.

Aber all das ist nur die Basis, dieses Jahr zählen die Ergebnisse für die möglichen ersten Onkologiezulassungen 2026, da wird das Deck bald neu gemischt, so oder so...  

Da muss man aufpassen, wir hatten 24 sicherlich eine sondersituation dadurch dass die eu Staaten mitten in der impfsaison den Impfstoff gewechselt hatten, ich geh davon aus dass man nächstes jahr ķlüger die Variante für die Anpassung wählt...
Die Umsätze steigen sobald die eu aus dem langfristvertrag rauskommen und die Preise steigen, dieser deckt aber noch 25 und 26 ab

Am 10. März werden die Geschäftszahlen für das Jahr 2024 veröffentlicht.
Ich gehe davon aus, dass wir unterhalb der Schätzung liegen werden, so bei 2.500.

Ist es realistisch, dass der Umsatz im Jahr 2025 wieder gesteigert werden kann?

Wann bringt Biontech endlich das nächste Produkt auf den Markt und welches wird es sein?

Fragen über Fragen, vielleicht weiß jemand mehr hier? :)

Bleibt noch der Aktienkurs, in letzter Zeit stabil, nächste Hürde ist die 120 EUR...  

Tja, das weiß der liebe Gott. Erstens ist Revenue von etwas anderem als Comirnaty nicht zu erwarten. Zweitens, ist es schwierig die Nachfrage nach Comirnaty zu schätzen. Pfizer hat ja jüngst mit "Materially stable vaccination rates and market share in U.S. and revenue phasing similar to 2024, primarily concentrated in the back-half of the year with the distribution between Q3 and Q4 dependent on the timing of strain selection and approvals by regulatory agencies. Advance purchase agreements remain in place outside the U.S., mostly in European Union." geguidet. Was bedeutet gleichbleibende Umsätze in 2025. Interessant ist der Zusatz: "*Assumption for entire vaccines portfolio is that there will be no material U.S. policy changes in 2025." Ob man nun eine Policy Change in Anbetracht von RFK annehmen sollte oder nicht, weiß wieder der liebe Gott..
Für den Kurs ist es mMn aber egal, wir wissen aktuell genauso viel über die Umsätze wie im August 2024 und da stand der Kurs bei unter 80€. Für die Bewertung sind ganz andere Fragen interessant. Nämlich die Read-Outs von Studien und ob man noch in 2025 eine Zulassung beantragen kann. Die Kombi-Impfung wäre eigentlich mein Favorit für das Produkt gewesen, aber das scheint auf Eis zu liegen..  

BioNTech’s oncology vaccine trial sees all patients living kidney cancer-free

All nine patients in a Phase I investigator-led trial of a personalised kidney cancer vaccine have successfully generated anti-cancer immune responses following tumour removal surgery.

Researchers from the US-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute administered BioNTech’s NeoVax personalised cancer vaccine to all nine patients with stage III or IV clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) following tumour removal surgery.

Results published this week in the journal Nature saw all nine patients involved in the trial (NCT02950766) remaining cancer-free at the cut-off point of 34.7 months.

The vaccines are personalised by way of neoantigens extracted from the patient’s tumour tissue during tumour removal surgery, with predictive algorithms used to determine which neoantigens to include in the vaccine based on the likelihood of inducing an immune response. The vaccine then teaches the patient’s body to combat leftover cancer cells and prevent them from resurfacing.

Dr Patrick Ott, director of the Center for Cancer Vaccines at the Dana-Farber Institute, said: “We observed a rapid, substantial and durable expansion of new T-cell clones related to the vaccine.

“These results support the feasibility of creating a highly immunogenic personalised neoantigen vaccine in a lower mutation burden tumour and are encouraging, though larger scale studies will be required to fully understand the clinical efficacy of this approach.”

Researchers saw the NeoVax vaccine inducing an immune response within three weeks, with the number of vaccine-induced T cells increasing 166-fold. Additionally, in vitro studies also showed that the vaccine-induced T cells were active against the patient’s tumour cells.

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute collaborated with Gateway for Cancer Research, the US Department of Defense, Yale Cancer Center and Harvard Medical School for the Phase I study.

Dr David Braun, physician-scientist at Yale Cancer Center and first author of the study, said: “This approach is truly distinct from vaccine attempts in kidney cancer.

“We pick targets that are unique to the cancer and different from any normal part of the body, so the immune system can be effectively ‘steered’ towards the cancer in a very specific way.

“We learned which specific targets in the cancer are most susceptible to immune attack and demonstrated that this approach can generate long-lasting immune responses, directing the immune system to recognise cancer. We believe this work can form a foundation for the development of neoantigen vaccines in kidney cancer.”

The institute says that it launched a study into the world of personalised vaccines eight years ago after the system demonstrated some success in keeping cancer cells under control as part of a study into melanoma.

Elsewhere in the field of vaccines intended to combat cancer, BioNTech has announced the initiation of global clinical trials for BNT116, an mRNA vaccine for the potential treatment of non-small cell lung cancer.

Meanwhile, a retrospective analysis of patients with advanced lung cancer revealed that those vaccinated with an mRNA Covid-19 vaccine had better survival outcomes when taking immune checkpoint inhibitors, compared to unvaccinated patients.
