Leading Payment Technology Provider Plans to Unveil Exciting New Point-of-Sale Products Enabling A Host of New Applications for Merchants and Financial Institutions
San Mateo, Dublin, Neu-Isenburg - 6th February 2002 - Trintech Group Plc (NASDAQ: TTPA: Neuer Markt: TTP), a global provider of secure payment infrastructure solutions, is celebrating its 15th anniversary with the launch of a range of new products at CeBIT 2002. Trintech plans to unveil the Compact 9400i, the newest addition to the popular Compact 9000 range of point-of-sale terminals.
The Compact 9400i enables a range of exciting applications, including the ability to use a retail store’s local network (via TCP/IP) as a network for POS-terminals and addresses the growing demand for prepaid services, especially mobile phone top-ups. Retailers are freed from the inefficient logistics and fraud issues associated with the provision of physical phone-cards. There are also several methods for electronic pre-paid PIN-Code activation. Trintech’s hardware, software and infrastructure, is flexible enough to allow retailers deal with multiple pre-pay vendors from the same terminal. The terminal includes a host of new features, such as Internet capability and a faster processor to handle more demanding and secure payment requirements. The Compact 9400i also retains features, including an intuitive user interface and software compatibility that helped its predecessor become one of the most popular payment terminals in Germany.
In recognition of the growing importance of security and authentication in the payment industry, Trintech will unveil the latest version of the Compact 950 PINPad. Its performance has been upgraded to better meet higher EMV requirements for fraud protection. The EMV-specification of the card organizations Europay, Mastercard and Visa envisions the successive replacement of magnetic stripes cards by chip cards.
Trintech also plans to demonstrate upgrades to its high-end mobile terminal range, eVia 2000. The GSM version gives users more independence when compared to fixed-line terminal connections. In addition, the desktop version will be capable of handling secure PIN based debit cards by connecting to a Compact 950 PINPad.
