Strong Momentum in Social Gaming and Revenues of $1.8 Million Punctuate Excitement Around Planned Merger With myYearbook

WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 08/11/11 -- Social media technology company, Quepasa Corporation (NYSE Amex: QPSA), owner of popular Latino online social network Quepasa.com and social gaming studio Quepasa Games today reported results for its second fiscal quarter of 2011 ended June 30, 2011.
Second Quarter 2011 Highlights
Financial Highlights:
Revenues of $1.8 million were reported, a near 59% increase over the $1.2 million reported in the second fiscal quarter of 2010, and $401 thousand or 17% lower than the $2.2 million achieved during the first quarter 2011.
Game revenues of $219 thousand were reported in the second quarter of 2011 primarily from the launch of the first internally developed game as a result of the acquisition of gaming studio XtFt.
GAAP EPS of ($0.14) loss during 2Q11 compared with ($0.15) loss during 2Q10, and ($0.10) loss in 1Q11.
EBITDA came in at a loss of $985 thousand in 2Q11 versus a loss of $156 thousand in 2Q10, and a loss of $357 thousand in 1Q11 (see discussion of EBITDA, a non-GAAP financial measure, below).
Business Development Highlights:
During the second quarter of 2011, Quepasa Games announced the launch of its first social game offering, Wonderful City -- Rio (Cidade Maravilhosa), across multiple social networking platforms. As of June 30th, the game had a global install base of over 2 million members, which represents 73% growth on a month-over-month basis.
Quepasa Contests reported record engagement results for a campaign with reseller partner Sony Pictures Television Ad Sales Latin America. The campaign drove 13 million engagements, doubling Quepasa Contests previous record. Highlights from the results included over 1.8 million shares -- socially and by email -- with Facebook and Twitter dominating social behavior.
Quepasa announced an agreement with PRISA DIGITAL, the leading media company in the production and distribution of digital news, and entertainment in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking world. The agreement will bring components of Quepasa's social media advertising technology to PRISA's existing network of European, US and Latin American advertisers.
Quepasa.com added 4.6 million registered users during the second quarter of 2011, bringing total registered members to a record 38.2 million at the end of June. Retention metrics showed considerable improvement; on average, return visitors viewed 33.2 pages and spent 18.8 minutes on-site, representing 11% and 42% month-over-month increases, respectively.
Shares of Quepasa Corporation were chosen for inclusion in several Russell Indexes including the Russell 2000, the Russell 3000, the Russell Global and the Russell Microcap, as a part of the Russell's 2011 reconstitution.

Q2 2011 Financial Results
Revenues for the quarter totaled $1.8 million, up nearly 59% from $1.2 million in the second quarter of 2010, and $401 thousand or 17% lower than the $2.2 million achieved during the first quarter 2011. $219 thousand of these revenues resulted primarily from the successful launch of Quepasa's first social gaming title. 93% of social games revenues were generated during the months of May and June. The social games revenue recognition for the sale of virtual items is based on the applicable US GAAP. The remaining revenue came primarily from advertising, in particular the sale of social media advertising campaigns (formerly referred to as DSM campaigns.) (See "Important Disclosures," below, regarding revenue sources.)
Net loss for the second quarter of 2011 was $2.3 million or 14 cents per basic and diluted share, an increase from the net loss of $1.9 million or 15 cents per basic and diluted share in the second quarter of 2010, and an increase from a net loss of $1.5 million or 10 cents per basic and diluted share in the prior quarter.
Cash and cash equivalents decreased by $2.3 million to $11.2 million at June 30, 2011, from $13.5 million at December 31, 2010, but increased from $0.5 million at June 30, 2010. The sequential decline is primarily the result of increased accounts receivable and cash usage associated with the acquisition of XtFt and its initial operations developing games, while the year-over-year increase is predominantly the result of the proceeds received from our December 2010 stock offering.
EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization, including amortization of non-cash stock based compensation) for the second quarter was a loss of $985 thousand or 6 cents per basic and diluted share, declining from an EBITDA loss of $357 thousand or 2 cents per basic and diluted share in the first quarter, and year-over-year from an EBITDA loss of $156 thousand or 1 cent per basic and diluted share the second quarter of 2010 (see important discussion about the presentation of EBITDA, a non-GAAP financial measure, and a reconciliation to the most directly comparable GAAP financial measure, below).

Also abwarten was morgen mit dem Kurs passiert.
Die Zahlen sind in der Tat enttäuschend, aber ggf. sollte man die Zahlen des gesamten Jahres 2011 noch abwarten.
Zudem habe ich auch heute mit einem fallenden Kurs gerechnet aber das Volumen mit dem der Kurs runter geht stimmt mich sehr positiv.
Klar sind 700.000 gehandelte Aktie bis jetzt mehr als an anderen Tagen aber wir hatten auch schon mal Tage an denen wurden mal locker 4 - 5,5 Millionen gehandelt.
Zu diesen Kursen habe ich mich weiter eingedeckt da ich weiterhin von einer Besserung der Zahlen ausgehen und die Verschmelzung der Zahlen von Quepasa und MyYearbook kommen ja erst noch.
es bleibt spannend.
Und denkt dran Ende April gings auch schon einmal auf 4,85 Dollar runter und n´danach binnen 8 Handelstage gings auf 9,50 Dollar rauf.
Und vergleicht das Volumen im Anstieg im gruenen Kreis.
Also ein Abverkauf wegen schlechter Zahlen ist das heute nicht.
Würde mich nicht wundern wenn wir heute noch ins Plus drehen.
Im Augenblick stelle ich mir die Frage (und werde am Wochende mir nochmal alle Zahlen der Vergangenheit von Quepasa sowie der Aussichten von myyearbook ansehen), ob Quepasa mit dem Kauf von myyearbook hier an die Grenzen geht. 18 Mio in Bar (da dürften alle Kassen geplündert sein) und für immerhin 82 Mio müssen alle Aktionäre bluten (eine Riesen-KE und damit Verwässerung). Und das, obwohl Quepasa selbst nur geringe Umsätze im Jahr hatte und für den Kauf normalerweise wie zu klein ist. 100 Mio für eine Firma die im letzten Jahr 23 Mio Umsatz machte. Da darf man sich ruhig mal Gedanken machen......Schönes Wochenende.
bei weitem nicht die besten sind, fällt es mir wirklich schwer die Zahlen und Aussagen des Halbjahresberichts zu interpretieren. MMn hat sich quepasa aber ja eher rückläufig entwickelt (EBITDA, Umsatz), sodass deren eigentliches Konzept nicht wirklich auf geht, durch Entwicklung neuer Spiele bzw. Werbeeinnahmen die Umsätze anzukurpeln. Bin selbst dort registriert und finde das "Wonderfullcity-Game" schon i.O., aber welcher Mensch bezahlt dafür schon Geld. Es ist gut gemacht, aber so ein richtiger Moneymaker wird das nie. Und wenn ich mir die neuen Spiele anschaue, sind diese ähnlich aufgebaut und werden daher für die Zukunft auch kaum Erträge generieren können.
My Yearbook ist hierbei aber noch gar nicht berücksichtigt. Wann findet dort der "Verschmelzungsprozess" statt bzw. wird das überhaupt geschehen? My Yearbook ist für Kinder zwischen 6 und 12 jahren sicherlich ganz spannend, aber ansich kann ich mir da auch nicht vorstellen, dass dort die großen Werbeeinnahmen erzielt werden, aber iwie haben die bisher ganz ordentlich gewirtschaftet, oder?
Warum klappt das bei Quepasa nicht? Auch die Userzahlenzuwächse werden immer weniger. So richtig toll finde ich den Ausblick jetzt nicht und ärgere mich übelst dort vor 2 tagen nochmal nachgelegt zu haben :(
Also was nun?
Glaubt man noch an QPSA?
Ich auf jeden Fall denn es gibt Punkte die mich für die Zukunft sehr optimistisch stimmen.
Zum einen wird der Deal mit Myyearbook bald komplett über die Bühne gehen.Dieser Deal bringt in zukunft auch mehr Umsatz rein eventuell Gewinn.
Zum anderen ist das erste Spiel von QPSA erst im Mai angelaufen und die Anzahl der Spieler wurde nur langsam gesteigert am Anfang.In den Q2 Zahlen (von April bis Jun) war also der Umsatz vom Gaming noch gar nicht vollends eingebracht.Der Monat April fällt völlig weg der Mai war auch schwach da dort das Spiel erst angelaufen ist und im Juni sammelte das Spiel fleißig Anhänger was aber die Q2 Zahlen nicht sonderlich rausgerissen hat.
Das Spiel bekommt aber stetig neue Spieler hinzu und somit dürfte der Umsatz in Q3 deutlich über dem des Q2 liegen.

5*.015*11 = $825,000 revenue per month starting mid Sept/begining of Oct.
4 the Q is going to be even better, big numbers on the way.

Also warten wir ab was die nächsten beiden Quartale bringen denn hier entsteht was größeres aber das braucht auch Zeit zusammenzuwachsen.

How can this be? The company has spent most of this year building up the fruits of its social-gaming releases and acquisitions, yet its casual diversions were good for only $219,000 in revenue. This isn't a model. It's a pair of Tesla Roadsters!
It doesn't get any prettier on the bottom line, where Quepasa's net loss widened to $2.3 million. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like to see companies post deficits that are larger than revenue.
Quepasa added 4.6 million registered users to Quepasa.com, but it's important to point out that the site's total user base of 38.2 million is a cumulative figure. Only a sliver of the folks who registered for the site still use it, and it's getting worse. What does it tell you when the company brags about its engagement metrics but revenue slips sequentially? After several quarters of publishing the total number of page views it served, it sheepishly abandoned that practice this time around. What does that tell you?
I've knocked Rediff.com's (Nasdaq: REDF ) valuation, arguing that the Indian online portal isn't worth much as a profitless company generating less than $2 million in monthly revenue. How can I defend Quepasa as a sequentially shrinking company that can't even drum up $2 million in profitless revenue in an entire quarter?
Social networking isn't very scintillating beyond Facebook and LinkedIn (NYSE: LNKD ) . We've seen AOL (NYSE: AOL ) and News Corp. (Nasdaq: NWSA ) practically give away social-networking websites that they acquired at nine-figure prices a few years ago.
If all of this sounds gloomy, there's still one reason to warm up to Quepasa. Last month, Quepasa announced the acquisition of the parent company of myYearbook. The $100 million deal will find Quepasa -- a company that posted an operating loss on $6.1 million in revenue last year -- joining forces with a company that generated $4.9 million in EBITDA on $23.7 million in revenue.
It will be a dramatically accretive deal for Quepasa, as long as the myYearbook family doesn't get cold feet. This is the kind of quarterly report that may leave myYearbook wondering whether it's making a mistake if the deal closes by year's end, but it's not as if the current volatile market will warm up to a second-tier social site trying to go public on its own.
Quepasa and myYearbook need each other right now more than they did last month. I look forward to what the combined companies' reports will look like next year.
