Matamec Makes a Higher Value Rare Earths Concentrate from the Eudialyte Zone of the Kipawa Deposit Jun. 6, 2011 (Marketwire Canada) -- MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- Matamec Explorations Inc. ("Matamec" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:MAT) is pleased to announce updated results from a metallurgical test program to recover rare earths values from its Kipawa deposit on the Zeus property. The Company's objective is to develop a high value, low cost RE (rare earths) deposit in North America in preparation for the anticipated shortage of heavy rare earth. A preliminary economic assessment (PEA) study will soon commence on the Kipawa Deposit. The PEA will be based on a new mineral resource estimate to be announced in mid-June 2011, and the results from the on-going optimization phase work at SGS Minerals Services laboratory in Lakefield Ontario since December 2010. Significant progress has been made to achieve the following two main goals: To apply a physical pre-concentration process to maximize recovery of the RE into less than 35% of the original ore mass. To recover over 95% of the RE from the pre-concentrate by leaching and solid/liquid separation at a low energy and reagent cost. The "Matamec Ore Processing Team" continues to improve the recovery by applying a dry physical separation process to produce a RE concentrate. This process can now concentrate over 90% of the yttrium values into less than 40% of the original ore mass, substantially better than the previous result of 92.8% yttrium values into 52.8% mass, as announced on March 8th, 2011. This advancement over previous results also comes with the added benefit of processing at a much coarser crush size, with an associated reduction in operating costs. For leaching, preliminary testing has recovered 95% of the available RE from the pre-concentrate. To agree with the principles of Matamec, this test be repeated before being established as a conclusive recovery result. Nevertheless, this is potentially a significant improvement from the 89.2% RE leach recovery obtained on the Eudialyte Zone whole rock samples as previously announced on October 18th, 2010. Proprietary leach testing on this concentrate continues to simplify the current process while improving project economics. Andre Gauthier, president of Matamec underlines that "these tests were undertaken with the supervision of our metallurgist, the late Les Heymann. The SGS Minerals Services laboratory and Eliza Ngai, our new metallurgist, will continue the numerous tests planned by Mr. Heymann to improve upon the recovery. We are very confident that these recent tests will meet our goals and place the Kipawa deposit in a fast track of development. The high value Kipawa deposit could be developed in a timely, and low cost manner." Aline Leclerc, geologist and V-P Exploration, and Eliza Ngai (P.Eng) are Matamec's Qualified Persons for this press release.

"This process can now concentrate over 90% of the yttrium values into less than 40% of the original ore mass, substantially better than the previous result of 92.8% yttrium values into 52.8% mass, as announced on March 8th, 2011. This advancement over previous results also comes with the added benefit of processing at a much coarser crush size, with an associated reduction in operating costs."

MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- Matamec Explorations Inc. ("Matamec" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:MAT) is pleased to announce that the mineral resource model for its heavy rare earths-yttrium-zirconium Kipawa deposit is almost complete. The new mineral resource estimate will be presented at its AGM on June 30th. The press release will also be available at 2 pm Eastern time on Marketwire's website on June 30th.
The new estimate includes 42 new diamond drill holes. The campaign began on December 1, 2010 and ended on February 8, 2011 for a total of 3,332 meters drilled. The main objective was to convert the majority of the inferred mineral resources into indicated resources.

Schlusskurs waren 0,41$.
Warum? News so schlecht?
Chemical Elements (in oxides) Indicated Category (kg) Inferred Category (kg)
Dysprosium (Dy2O3) 2,300,000 (1,100,000) 600,000 (1,000,000)
Terbium (Tb2O3) 400,000 (200,000) 100,000 (200,000)
Yttrium (Y2O3) 14,300,000 (6,700,000) 3,900,000 (6,400,000)
Europium (Eu2O3) 200,000 (100,000) 100,000 (100,000)
Neodymium (Nd2O3) 8,500,000 (4,000,000) 2,400,000 (3,500,000)
Interessant auch die Ankündigung eines neuen Bohrprogramms: "Another drilling campaign is scheduled soon to increase the quality of the resources and to verify the lateral and depth extensions of the Kipawa deposit"

Infill drilling has upgraded the Kipawa Deposit resource and indicated resources have increased by 67% at a 0.2% TREO cut-off. The table below now provides the TREO cut-off grades for the Kipawa Deposit for November 2010 and June 2011. Depending on the cut-off grade applied, the recently completed definition drill program has increased the indicated resource by between 40% (cut-off of 0.5% TREO) and 67% (cut-off of 0.2% TREO) and the indicated resource now stands at between 72% and 84% of the total resource.
If we compare current resource (June 2011) with the resource of November 2010 at an equivalent cut-off:
It increases the volume of the REE zones inside the overall mineralized envelope of the deposit.
It increases the RE Oxide content in the REO envelope (at 0.2% TREO).
It increases of the size of the indicated mineral resources.
RE Oxide Zones:
At a cut-off grade of 0.3% TREO, mineral resources in the Indicated category show an increase from 8.3 Mt to 12.5 Mt with little change in grade. This represents an increase of 51% in Rare Earth Oxide content.
More than 94% of the mineral resources grade higher than 0.2% TREO in each category.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- Matamec Explorations Inc. ("Matamec") or the "Company"(TSX VENTURE:MAT) is pleased to announce that it is now able to produce a pre-concentrate containing 90% of the contained yttrium in only 35% of the original ore mass of the Kipawa Deposit. This is significant in lowering the amount of acid required downstream and consequently lowering the operating cost of the project. Furthermore, the optimisation of Matamec's straightforward proprietary leaching method has dramatically reduced the amount of heat, acid, water and time required in solubilising the rare earths. Seven leach tests utilizing this proprietary method have been completed to date resulting in an excellent overall REE recovery of 88%, and an even higher 89% recovery for HREE+Y.
Since the start of the test work program in March 2010 at SGS Minerals Services, Matamec has been focused on both the pre-concentration and the leaching processes for treating the unique coarse grained eudialyte ore. Matamec believes that a combination of these two steps is vital in developing a successful, low-cost rare earth project.
The achievement of concentrating 90% of the yttrium values into 35% of the original ore mass is a considerable improvement from the previously reported values of 52.8% original ore mass (press release March 8, 2011) and 40% original ore mass (press release June 6, 2011). This advancement in optimizing the pre-concentration of the ore has been made by applying a coarse grind and employing a dry permanent magnetic separator for the elimination of gangue minerals from the ore.
A major breakthrough in the leaching of the pre-concentrate has also been achieved. The proprietary leaching method developed by Matamec can now successfully leach the eudialyte ore in a simple and low-cost manner. This straightforward leaching method can dramatically reduce the amount of heat, acid, water and time required in solubilising the rare earths. Seven leach tests have been completed to date resulting in an excellent overall REE recovery of 88%, and an even higher 89% recovery for HREE+Y.
These two developments significantly lower the operating and capital costs; and in turn, improve the overall economics of the project.
André Gauthier, president of Matamec, points out that, "with the results of these new pre-concentration and leaching tests, and based on information announced in other REE companies' press releases, Matamec may have defined the lowest cost metallurgical treatment process. With our pre-concentrate we need only lixiviate 35% of the ore mass with acid, and, we have also reduced the heat, residence time and reagent consumption drastically in the leaching process. It is the simplicity and low-cost nature of our metallurgical process which sets the Kipawa deposit apart from its peers." He adds that, "along with these impressive metallurgical results, Matamec will be able to process lower grade mineralization from the Kipawa deposit and increase the life of the mine."
Aline Leclerc, V-P Exploration (Geo.) and Eliza Ngai (P.Eng) are Matamec's Qualified Persons for this press release. Together, they have verified the information in this press release.
Jul. 28, 2011 (Marketwire Canada) --
MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- Matamec Explorations Inc. ("Matamec" or the "Company")(TSX VENTURE:MAT) announces that the first phase of the summer field program on Matamec's HREE-Y-Zr Zeus property is completed. Analytical results will drive a second exploration phase later in the summer and fall. The goals of this program were to explore for extensions of the Kipawa deposit and discover new REE-Zr occurrences along the favourable horizon. This work has lead to the discovery of a new bedrock occurrence of the main ore bearing mineral, eudialyte, 300m along strike to the northwest of the presently recognized limit of the deposit. It has also lead to the discovery of new occurrences of rare earth (REE) minerals within the Kipawa Alkalic Complex on its property.
The field program consisted of regional prospecting, regional and detailed geological mapping, soil sampling, grid geophysics and mechanical trenching. Highlights include:
- The discovery of a new bedrock occurrence of eudialyte (the mineral which contains the majority of the rare earth values in the Kipawa REE-Zr deposit) 300m along strike to the northwest of the presently recognized limit of the deposit.
- The discovery of rare earth-bearing mineral occurrences in outcrop and as boulders in other areas of the property by regional prospecting.
The recently discovered REE-bearing mineral occurrences show a strong similarity with the mineralogy and geology of known REE-Zr zones on the property and a follow-up of these very favourable results is planned for later in the year. The new occurrence of eudialyte is especially important, as it is the first recorded bedrock discovery of this important indicator mineral within the Kipawa Alkalic Complex since 1958.
Andre Gauthier, president of Matamec states that: "The knowledge Matamec has gained by carefully analysing the geological setting of the Kipawa deposit has lead to new discoveries of REE minerals within the Kipawa Alkalic Complex. We hope that these discoveries may be developed into future REE-Zr economic zones and the initial results clearly demonstrate the enormous exploration potential of Matamec's Zeus property".
Samples from the new REE-bearing occurrences have been submitted for chemical analysis and results will be reported as they are received.
Future work on Matamec's REE property will include the completion of regional geological mapping, a follow-up on recently discovered exploration targets and a fall 2011 drilling campaign. The drilling program will explore some of the new REE mineral occurrences and help to define other geological targets within Matamec's Zeus Property. Drilling will also define and extend the Kipawa REE-Zr deposit itself.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 4, 2011) - Matamec Explorations Inc. ("Matamec" or the "Company")(TSX VENTURE:MAT) is pleased to announce additional results concerning its simple and low-cost proprietary leaching method for the lixiviation of the unique coarse grained Kipawa eudialyte ore. This straightforward process dramatically reduces the amount of heat, acid, water and time required in solubilising the rare earths, while achieving an excellent overall REE leach extraction of 88%, and a HREE+Y leach extraction of 89%. The figure (available at the following address: http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/kipawa.pdf) outlines the full optimised metallurgical process to date. Precipitation tests are ongoing.
As previously announced, Matamec is able to eliminate 65% of the ore by a magnetic separation process (press release July 21, 2011). The pre-concentrate then undergoes a direct leaching method. Lixiviation is carried out at room temperature, at 20% solids in solution with 150 kg of acid per tonne of concentrate, for a 2 hour duration. One of the significant benefits of this technique is in eliminating the 200C, energy intensive, acid "cracking" step typical of many rare earth circuits. It not only results in a much simpler process, but also leads to significant savings in heating costs. The lowering of the acid dosage from 600 kg/t to 150 kg/t also greatly cuts back on the operating cost and results in the reduction of both the acid and neutralizing reagent consumption. Furthermore, by leaching at 20% solids and shortening the leach time to 2 hours, the amount of water required and the size of the leaching circuit can be reduced in size, which directly benefits the project's capital cost.
"Energy and reagents are two major operating costs when extracting rare earth elements from the ore," said Andr Gauthier, president of Matamec. "The success of our leaching process, in combination with our pre-concentration technique (which allows us to lixiviate only 35 % of the original ore mass), marks a significant breakthrough for Matamec by defining a low-cost metallurgical process for the Kipawa deposit. The excellent metallurgical achievements to date demonstrate our commitment to developing the high value Kipawa project in a timely and inexpensive fashion."
The metallurgical test work is continuing at SGS Minerals Service in Lakefield, Ontario. Aline Leclerc, V-P Exploration (Geo.) and Eliza Ngai (P.Eng) are Matamec's Qualified Persons for this press release.
