Rakuten Mobile hat kürzlich einen wichtigen Meilenstein erreicht! Am 16. Juni 2024 hatte das Unternehmen über 7 Millionen Abonnenten für seinen Mobilfunkdienst. On its Q1 earnings call, Mikitani claimed “smooth progress” in turning around the group’s loss-making mobile unit, noting profitability is just around the corner, with a target of EBITDA turning positive by December 2024.
He noted it is now in the third phase of its launch, which is telling customers about its improved network quality. It is working to a target of 10 million subscribers by end-2025.

Rakuten Group has been granted a patent for a control device that determines the landability of an aircraft at a target area by acquiring state information of the surface while a ground vehicle travels the area. The device includes codes for aircraft and ground vehicle control, as well as state information acquisition and determination. GlobalData’s report on Rakuten Group gives a 360-degree view of the company including its patenting strategy. Stolz ist 1&1 auf seinen Netz¬technik-Ausbau des BVB-Stadions ("Signal-Iduna-Park") in Dortmund. Hier versorgt 1&1 nicht nur seine eigenen Kunden, sondern auch die von Telekom, Vodafone oder o2-Telefónica mit schnellem Netz und in allen möglichen Technologien. Es sei das erste Stadion, das in Open-RAN-Technik ausgebaut wurde. Es bietet Platz für 81.000 Zuschauer.
Zwei Millionen (im)portierte Kunden
Martin verriet, das inzwischen zwei Millionen Kunden in das eigene Netz (Code 262-23) verlagert wurden. Die Zahl der täglich möglichen Portierungen (um die Kunden aus dem Kernnetz von o2-Telefónica oder Vodafone ins eigene Netz zu Portieren) sei von bisher 50.000 pro Tag etwas reduziert worden, um Probleme zu vermeiden.

Rakuten Optimism 2024 will feature a two-day business conference, welcoming business leaders and visionaries to explore the frontiers of the tech industry. At the same time, the four-day Future Festival will be held at the venue, allowing the general public to experience the impressive breadth of the Rakuten Ecosystem through AI, VR and more.
Aug 1-2: Beyond Innovation, Envisioning the Future
This year’s business conference will follow the thought-provoking theme “Beyond Innovation, Envisioning the Future.”
One topic expected to take center stage is AI – the conference will discuss not only its incredible potential, but the many questions surrounding the technology’s social impact. Other sessions and panel discussions will cover e-commerce, fintech, telecommunications, sustainability and more.
Headlining keynote speaker Rakuten Group Chairman and CEO Mickey Mikitani will be joined by an impressive roster of business leaders from around the tech industry.
