@Mr.Bombastic

@Mac..Million in #725 schreibst Du:  ...

" T4" MOVES FORWARD WITH ARNOLD!
Producers head back to Terminator!
Reported By: TheARNOLDFANS.com Staff
Saturday, May 8, 2004

Arnold fan Abking and his brother have some promising news for " Terminator 4" . Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna are focusing again on the next Terminator film! They were asked about their future projects - " We are gearing up for some very huge projects! We are focusing all of our energies on Terminator 4! We have an amazing idea that will make sci-fi movie goers cheer. It stays true to the Terminator universe says Vajna. Arnold will be back for this one, but for how long he will be in the film is the question right now.

Let`s hope Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna FIRST listen to the fan`s demand for T3.5. The smartest thing the producers could do is to have Arnold film some additional scenes for T3.5 while he is simultaneously filming T4. Then release T3.5 a few months prior to T4. If T3 gets fixed it would be the best Terminator film to date. A new theatrical release of T3.5 would draw even more hype for T4. Let`s do it! Sign our T3.5 petition now!

Check DarkHorizons.com to read more on the producer`s plans for Rambo 4 and their new fantasy film!

DarkHorizons.com:
The news sounds rosier for the " Terminator" and " Rambo" franchises. Regular action film scooper `ABKing` has his own informants, one of which dropped in this quote from producers Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna when asked about their future projects - " We are gearing up for some very huge projects! We are focusing all of our energies on Terminator 4! We have an amazing idea that will make sci-fi movie goers cheer. It stays true to the Terminator universe says Vajna. Arnold will be back for this one, but for how long he will be in the film is the question right now.

We also want to make another Rambo movie with our good buddy Sly Stallone. Things are being sorted out as we speak and we will get to produce another Rambo film. Stallone is waiting to see the script and then do his own polish from there as he did with the previous Rambo movies. People will be in for a big surprise with this new Rambo film, but don`t worry says Kassar, Rambo still uses a machine gun and blows lots of things up. We also have a BIG fantasy movie in the works. This will be our HARRY POTTER and hopefully it will make our company C2 a billion dollars like Potter did for Warner Brothers" .

Lane settles suit against Intermedia

Diane Lane and Intermedia have settled a lawsuit Lane brought against the production/distribution company last year. The suit involved a disagreement over the terms of the deal on the film " Me Again," which is still in development at Intermedia. No details were given on the agreement. But both sides had positive reactions to the settlement. " We`re glad that both sides reached this agreement," said Lane`s agent at Endeavor, Brian Swardstrom. " We`re happy for our valued client, Diane Lane, and glad to be back in business with Intermedia. They`ve got some great projects and we look forward to working with them in the near future." Jon Gumpert, Intermedia`s vice chairman and head of Motion Picture Operations, said: " We`re thrilled to settle this misunderstanding amicably and certainly hope to work with Diane Lane on future projects. We also look forward to continuing to work with Endeavor." (Liza Foreman)

Born `Again`

Mon May 17, 8:00 PM ET

Cathy Dunkley, Adam Dawtrey, STAFF

Stephen Hopkins, whose HBO movie " The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (news)" screens here in competition Friday, has committed to direct " Me Again" for Beryl Vertue`s Hartswood Films.

Summit Entertainment will co-finance the pic with longtime backers Intermedia and BBC Films.

The amnesia thriller has an original screenplay by Vertue`s son-in-law, Steven Moffat, best known for penning BBC sitcom " Coupling" (also produced by Hartswood).

" Me Again" has a convoluted development history. Originally set in Blighty, it was rewritten as an American movie when Bruce Willis (news) decided he wanted to star. Intermedia set it up last year as a \$75 million production, to be directed by Dean Parisot, with Diane Lane (news) co-starring. But pre-production stalled when Willis dropped out in April 2003.

Intermedia was subsequently sued by Lane over its alleged failure to honor her \$2.7 million pay-or-play deal, but that suit was recently settled.

Vertue and Moffat set about reworking it as a \$25 million British movie in December. Intermedia still wanted to be involved and agreed to a deal to write off a significant part of the heavy turnaround costs so that the project could move forward.

" I couldn`t be more pleased that we are back where we were in the first place," Vertue said. Hopkins was one of the first directors Vertue and Moffat thought of for the project, before its ill-fated American diversion.

" What had caught our eye was what he had done on `24,` which had real style and felt so different," Vertue said. " That was even before he did `Peter Sellers,` which is wonderful, too. We thought he would bring some of that style to `Me Again.`"

It`s the story of a man who wakes up in a hotel room with no memory and a dead body in the room. He must figure out if he`s a hitman or the undercover cop assigned to take down the assassin.

Hopkins described pic as a light romantic-comedy thriller. " Comedy is something I`m terrified of, so I`d like to try my hand at that," he said.

Intermedia chairman Moritz Borman and the BBC`s David Thompson are exec producing.

Hopkins said he hopes to start shooting the pic in September in the U.K.

BLOGGER GOES CELLULOID

Thousands of readers got to know him through his daily blog during the Iraq war, but now the mysterious Baghdad Blogger is about to reach a much bigger audience. According to the BBC, the man who calls himself Salam Pax has signed to have his diary made into a flick by Intermedia. The company said it was looking for a screenwriter to adapt " The Baghdad Blog``, a book based on Pax`s Web diary, which also dealt with his experience as a gay man in a dictatorship.

" He`s like a Nick Hornby in the middle of a war," said Scott Kroopf, chairman of Intermedia`s film division, to Web site ScreenDaily.com.

But don`t count on learning too much about the 29-year-old architectural student turned blogger and author: He continues to keep his identity a secret.

T4, Rambo & Bat v Supes Developments

In Focus magazine talked to " Troy" director Wolfgang Petersen recently and he confirmed both " Batman vs. Superman" and " Superman" are shelved at least for the near future. His aim with the former was to show two sides of two duelling giants and how they compare with our egos - " We have Batman and Superman in ourselves. We like Batman – we understand him, we suffer with him. On the other hand, we want to be Superman. But they`re conflicting philosophies. Let`s bring them together in one movie and see how we, as an audience, wrestle with our inner demons" .

So what in the hell is happening with it? " I always liked that concept so much. I think it`s on the back-burner because Warner Brothers decided to go with single " Batman" and " Superman" movies. " Superman" is, at the moment, shelved; I think if they successfully launch it again, then at some point it will be " Batman vs. Superman" again. I`ll definitely be attached to that project whenever..."

Cannes revels as caution rules

Sat May 22, 8:00 PM ET

Jonathan Bing, STAFF

Last year, Intermedia was touting " Me Again" as a $75 million blockbuster and desperately trying to plug an A-list star into the cast. This year, the project re-emerged at Cannes as a $25 million Brit pic to be directed by Stephen Hopkins.

Intermedia`s turnabout is part of a new pragmatism at Cannes 2004, as high-budget gambles give way to conservative deals on projects with more realistic pricetags.

Last year, independents were the high rollers here.

Intermedia and Dino de Laurentiis shopped dueling " Alexander" epics to indie distribs; Walden Media, which didn`t yet have a U.S. distrib for " Around the World In 80 Days," flew the cast to the Croisette for a mid-production junket; and Arnold Schwarzenegger (news) posed with robots on a stage in front of the Carlton to promote " T3," a $170 million film with a half-dozen international partners.

This year, the film market was brisk and businesslike, as sales companies left the hype to Michael Moore (news), the Hollywood majors, and the movie stars disporting themselves at the Hotel du Cap.

Independent financiers weren`t hawking rights to international tentpoles like " 80 Days" and Oliver Stone (news)`s " Alexander," which won`t be out until later this year. They were readjusting their slates, quietly lowering their production budgets and inking strategic partnerships with other independents.

Icon was kicking around an informal buying alliance with Newmarket so the two companies could team in the future to buy English-speaking territories to compete with major specialty labels like Fox Searchlight. Summit, which handles sales on Intermedia`s slate, is co-financing " Me Again."

International sales outfit Myriad Pictures breezed into Cannes this year and draped its sales banner from the lavish Carlton penthouse that served as its festival headquarters for the last few years.

But behind the scenes, Myriad was quietly re-adjusting its business plan. The company recently closed its London office. Myriad also struck a deal with Pandora, another sales company, to help sell international rights to its Ed Harris (news) pic, " Copying Beethoven."

The top-selling titles at Cannes still had star-power and big price tags. Lakeshore sold several territories on " Million Dollar Baby," the boxing drama starring and directed by Clint Eastwood (news); and Miramax put together a number of foreign sales on " Brothers Grimm," the Heath Ledger (news) and Matt Damon (news) pic directed by Terry Gilliam (news). Both pics are budgeted well over $60 million.

But the real action here involved pics on the low end of the sales spectrum: Stephen Frears (news)` " Mrs. Henderson Presents," Neil Jordan (news)`s " Breakfast on Pluto," Terry Gilliam`s " Tideland," Guy Ritchie (news)`s " Revolver" and the Demi Moore (news) pic " Half Light."

These are internationally financed co-productions with budgets between $15 and $25 million. All are being financed without a U.S. distributor -- a reflection of the growing perception that American pre-buyers pay too little and demand too much control.

Independent sales firms haven`t entirely recovered from the low ebb of 2001, when the Neuer Markt bubble popped and the European pay TV business collapsed. European tax funds are no longer a cash cow for producers; some have evaporated altogether.

But these conditions have forced producers to grow shrewder about packaging international coproductions. " Since the disappearance of almost all of the funds, it`s been a better world for filmmakers with real projects," says Fernando Sulichin, who`s producing David Cronenberg (news)`s adaptation of Martin Amis`s " London Fields."

" The market isn`t flooded with films that didn`t deserve to be made and weren`t made for the right reasons," Sulichin says. " For example, U.K. sales and leaseback requirements are quite rigorous and the right films are getting financed for the right reasons. So we are finding that Cannes is a better place to talk about funding for projects, and we are seeing a real demand for product."

The greater abundance of product this year included documentaries and foreign-language product that was cheap to produce and cheap to buy, as well as low-budget genre films.

Joan Weidman, production president of bonding outfit IFG, remained bullish about the market. " European and domestic TV is coming back nicely; the advertising money is definitely up. The Euro buyers, where there was such much turbulence, there is now more stability. Call me quietly optimistic."

Variety Intermedia gig a dream job for Gere

Michael Fleming
May 14, 2003

Richard Gere is negotiating to star in " Sleepwalker," Intermedia's remake of the Swedish/Norwegian thriller about a sleepwalking man who fears he is responsible for the sudden disappearance of his family.

Nick Kazan and Doug Wright wrote the script and Mark Johnson is producing. They're looking to hook a director.

Gere would play the sleepwalker, who straps a video camera to his shoulder hoping to replicate the situation and solve a mystery that gets more complicated as a result.

The unorthodox format has drawn the attention of numerous stars and directors. Gere sparked to the rewrite that was done by Wright, and his ICM reps are negotiating a deal that will see him make the movie next spring.

Fresh from his Golden Globe-winning turn in " Chicago," Gere is due to begin work shortly opposite Jennifer Lopez in Miramax's remake of " Shall We Dance?." He follows that in the fall with the Hyde Park/National Geographic pic " Emperor Zehnder," which reteams Gere with " Primal Fear" director Gregory Hoblit.

" Sleepwalker" is the third Nordic film to take shape as a major Hollywood remake, following the Christopher Nolan-directed " Insomnia" and " Elling," a project bought by Kevin Spacey's Trigger Street that has A-list elements circling.

Johnson will produce " Sleepwalker" after he completes " The Alamo." Intermedia's Moritz Borman and Basil Iwanyk are exec producing along with John M. Jacobsen, who produced the original.

Gere, who recently finished shooting Bille August's " Without Apparent Motive" opposite Juliane Moore, will soon begin work on the English-language remake of " Shall We Dance?" with Jennifer Lopez.

Terminator 4" ohne Schwarzenegger?

Ich gehe konsequent mittelfristig Long !!!

Projekte hin oder her.

sicheren Hafen bist (siehe Brokat).

Hamsi !

Was macht der Kurs in welchem Stadium ?

@Mr.Bombastic

Man sollte also Dinge, bevor man sie hier veröffentlicht, genauer durchleuchten.

Dann klappt es auch mit dem Nachbarn.
