Bester Part:
"It's a tough nut to crack, that celebrity market," Maltin told me in an interview. Hang w/ has drawn one million users in the first nine months. Maltin hopes to hit 10 million users by the end of the year. His goal is to be the live social media platform and stand as one of the social media pillars, alongside Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Wenn die 10 Mio User bis Ende des Jahres haben, gibt's hier dicke ASCHE! Is ja nur meine bescheidene Meinung...
Hang w/ user analytics reveal that fans on Hang w/ are more likely to Tune In to a celebrity's three- to nine-minute live broadcast than fans are to engage in the following social media activities:
Hang w/ Tune In versus Facebook like: 5:1
Hang w/ Tune In versus Instagram comment: 19:1
Hang w/ Tune In versus Twitter favorite: 153:1
Hang w/ Tune In versus Twitter retweet: 195:1
Hang w/ Tune In versus Facebook share: 250:1
The Hang w/ platform, which allows users to "hang with" celebrities and each other via live-streaming video and simultaneous chat, was created in part to help celebrities and users with large followings to build authentic and interactive social media relationships. The platform allows users to follow people who interest them and notifies users when that person broadcasts live.
"Hang w/ is proving to be a powerful platform for fan engagement," said Hang With, Inc. co-founder and CEO Andrew Maltin. "We've always believed live broadcasts are far more exciting to a fan than reading 140 characters, viewing an image or even watching a video. And now the analytics show it to be overwhelmingly true."
The topic of fan engagement has become a focus of Hollywood executives and companies like Facebook and Twitter who are seeking more meaningful engagement between celebrities and fans - and are not simply counting the total numbers of followers.
The Hang w/ platform has attracted more than 100 actors, athletes, musicians and entertainers including 50 Cent, Ali Landry, Cheech and Chong, Claudia Jordan, Jamie Kennedy, Kaskade, Larry the Cable Guy, Lucy Hale, Terrell Owens and Timbaland.

LG biotech
Joonbug sits down with the app's creator--Andrew Maltin
Did you ever wish there was a social media platform made just for going out? Perhaps an app that let's you watch live footage of ongoing shows and talk with the clubbers themselves? What about an app that allows your favorite performers to actually chat with you and broadcast their sets live? Well good news, “Hang w/” an app that’s available in the iTunes store and Google Play, does it all – and it’s free!
Constructed for socialites that want to get more from their club experience, Hang w/ lets you get an intimate look into your favorite people and places in real time. With plans to go global in the near future, Hang w/ creates an exciting interactive world for its users to access 24/7.
The app's creator, Andrew Maltin, took the time to give us an in-depth look at the app.
What provoked the idea to create Hang w/?
Hang w/ was originally incubated by MEDL Mobile in response to a demand from the agency’s celebrity, sports, and entertainment clients who were looking for a more powerful mobile social media platform.
We heard again and again from celebrities that social media was becoming inauthentic and they were looking for a more genuine way to connect with their fans. They wanted something more powerful than a photo or 140 words of text. We brainstormed the most authentic way a celebrity could connect with their fan base and live streaming social media was born.
Can you give me a more in depth understanding of how the average person would use Hang w/?
There are several use cases. Some people use the app as a "sit back" viewing experience. They flip through multiple broadcasters and watch how other people are living their lives right now at this very moment.
Some users are very engaged with the app’s chat feature. Not only do they view a lot of broadcasts, but they also engage the broadcaster and each other by actively commenting and chatting. We've seen many friendships and relationships develop inside the app this way.
Some people use the app to actively broadcast their lives. For some, they only broadcast major events or exciting moments. Others broadcast almost non-stop, sharing all the aspects of their lives with their followers live as it happens. With celebrities, there are some who get really into interacting with their fans and use the app as a platform to chat directly with their fan base to bring them into their lives.
There are other celebs who use the app like a magic looking glass into their lives -- sharing a look into what it's like to be a celebrity touring the world. As I'm writing this, Kaskade is broadcasting live from Singapore.
What is the target demographic for people using Hang w/?
Our ideal users are people who are active in social media and enjoy hanging out with friends, seeing how other people in other parts of the world live and looking in on the fascinating lives of celebrities, athletes and entertainers.
What gives Hang w/ that “wow” factor?
The fact that it's live, right now, as we speak.
It's the ability to Hang w/ another person in real time no matter where they are and no matter where you are.
It’s a hard concept to understand until you use it. But once you do, you’ll realize that there are no time zones. Some people are eating breakfast in the morning, some are out partying at midnight, some are in class at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. But it’s all happening right now. I can be in all of those places at the same time, chatting with them, asking about their day, listening to their music and just being “with” them.
Does Hang w/ cover clubs nationally? Internationally?
Night clubs present a very big opportunity for Hang w/. There's an energy that radiates from a hot club and Hang w/ is able to capture that energy and allow thousands or even millions of people to be in the club together, sharing that experience.
We plan to expand Hang w/'s presence in the night club scene internationally. In fact, one of the most fascinating aspects of Hang w/ is that you can experience what's happening 24/7. With night clubs around the planet broadcasting live, the party will literally never stop.
What’s the next big step for the app?
In app messaging. Our users connect powerfully during broadcasts, but when the broadcasts are over they need to go outside the app to connect with each other. We are going to give them a way to stay connected within the application.
Don’t waste any more time, clubbers. Get yourself down to the App store on your nifty smartphones and go live with Hang w/!
