In September 2012, Danish wind power major Vestas decided to “scale down sales effort in the Indian market”, which practically meant it was closing shop in the country.
Almost two years later, it is all set to return, headed by a new Managing Director, Jorn Hammer, who previously steered the company’s Australian operations.
The new Vestsa India is also keen on recruiting – it wants to hire a Head of Construction, Head of Public Affairs and a Business Analyst among others. The company is also in the process of executing an order for 11 machines for a customer in Gujarat.
.....The Danish major is coming back to India at a time when the wind market is starting to look up. In 2013-14, the industry added 2,126 MW of wind turbines, exceeding expectations; it surprised everybody by installing 800 MW in March alone.
And only last week, the Finance Minister said in Parliament that the Government would bring back ‘accelerated depreciation’, a tax-saving sop. The industry estimates that in a full year, the “AD market” will be worth about 1,000 MW.

In its new avatar in India, Danish wind turbine major Vestas has turned to its Indian customer, Powerica, for marketing.
The pact with the Mumbai-based Cummins diesel genset manufacturer is close to finalisation, sources in the know say. Powerica will sell Vestas turbines in India and also take care of servicing the machines. Vestas will only make and sell the wind-power turbines......
Souces say it will not be a Vestas-Powerica joint venture but only an exclusive marketing agreement.

Vestas customer "reconcept GmbH" places 30 MW order for nine V126-3.3 MW turbines, featuring Vestas’ Large Diameter Steel Towers (LDST) that allow for taller hub heights and therefore greater annual energy production at low wind speeds.
The Ylivieska Pajukoski project in the Ylivieska region in Finland will feature the increasingly popular V126-3.3 MW turbine atop hub height 137m towers, further validating the Vestas strategy to optimise energy solutions based on well-proven technologies. Ylivieska Pajukoski is the third Vestas project announced this year to utilise the V126-3.3 MW turbine and Large Diameter Steel Towers in Finland, a combination that allows our customers to generate more energy on low wind sites.
The Ylivieska Pajukoski project includes a 12-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service contract. Delivery and commissioning of the turbines is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2015.

The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the 21 V90-2.0 MW turbines, along with a VestasOnline® Business SCADA solution.
Vestas is pleased that our valued customer ERG Renew has chosen us to partner with them to develop a wind power project in Poland,” says Klaus Steen Mortensen, President of Vestas Northern Europe. “As a business partner Vestas will ensure a flawless execution of the project to maximize the business case for ERG. It is a long-term partnership we embark on every time we sign an order for Vestas turbines.”

Leider. Hat niemand was davon.

Vestas, Gamesa and Acciona have submitted bids in two tenders to engineer, procure and construct two wind power projects on Egypt's Gulf of El Zayt for the government's New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA).
Egypt, desperately short of power, is targeting 7.2GW of operating wind capacity by 2020.

Though the flagship V164-8.0MW has been up and turning at the country’s national testing centre in Østerild since spring following in-house drivetrain trials on Vestas’ own test rig at Aarhus, the DKr116m ($20.9m) Lorc rig will offer something different for the second nacelle: an integrated programme checking transmission system, power converter, medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, inverter, “human-machine interface” and control system, all wired into an offshore-specification 33kV grid-link.
The function tester is being readied to be run-in with its maiden DUV (device under test), a 3MW Vestas V112 nacelle, before the V164-8.0MW unit arrives at Lorc for installation early in 2015.
“This [function testing programme] will doubtless be very useful for Vestas but like most things in the offshore wind industry it will be a learning experience for everyone,” states Rasmussen.

Denmark's Vestas to build 1st stealth turbines in France
- France is building the world's first wind farm with turbine blades designed to minimise interference with radar systems, using technology partially inspired by stealth warplanes.
EDF Energies Nouvelles, the renewables unit of state-controlled utility EDF, aims to install the new Vestas-built turbines next spring in the "Ensemble Eolien Catalan" wind farm near Perpignan and start operating them over the course of 2015.
"It is a world premiere for this new technology," an EDF EN spokeswoman said.
The turbines will account for the entire 96 megawatts of capacity, which she said would make it the biggest wind farm in France.
