BioLife designs and manufactures cGMP bio-preservation media products. Basically that means the company creates a type of serum that is ideal for transporting and storing cells, tissues or organs. This product caters to the regenerative medicine market (better known to the public as stem cells), by allowing much longer shelf life and preservation of drugs/treatments. BioLife has several patents surrounding this technology, and is working to gain more.

Currently, there are over 100 clinical trials that involve BioLife's products; they vary from pre-clinical to Phase III. In each of these drugs BioLife acts as a storage/shipment medium, and is permanently included the 'recipe' for that treatment. Thus, when a drug that uses BioLife's preservation media gets FDA approval and begins commercialization, it will be forced to use the media in every application. BioLife currently estimates that the approval and then commercialization of a single drug could add between $500,000-$2,000,000 in annual revenue.

Betting on BioLife is a numbers game, not an attempt at understanding a complex proprietary medicine. For the past 3 years BioLife has been filling up its pipeline with new drugs, and is closer than ever to one of its customers receiving FDA approval. Of the 100+ total, 10 are in Phase III trials and 47 are in Phase II as of January 9th, 2014 (according to this research report done by LifeSci Advisors). Generally a Phase III trial can be 5-10X larger than Phase II, which is already 2-3X larger than Phase I. For this reason, BioLife stands to get a major tailwind over the next several quarters as a big portion of its pipeline enters Phase III.

Recently BioLife completed a $13M+ capital raise and debt conversion, while simultaneously up listing from the OTC to the NASDAQ. These events a are a major positive for the company and gives BioLife enough capital to operate without dilution for ideally the next 3-4 quarters, at least. BioLife was almost operating at breakeven throughout 2013, and appears to be headed towards profitability over the course of 2014. The market hasn't reacted kindly to these events, and as a consequence has punished the stock, and it now trades near 52-week lows. The most likely reason for the fall was the amount of dilution that occurred during the debt conversion/offering, as well as the overall time it took to complete the process. During the process BioLife's outstanding share-count more than doubled from ~5M to 12M. Although at first glance this is a little concerning, it had to be done for the longevity of the company, and a dilutive event of this magnitude appears to be a one time occurrence.

BioLife has completely transformed its balance sheet thanks to this recent financial engineering. The company ended the year with less than $200K in cash, and more than $10M in debt. Now BioLife has $13M+ in cash, with $0 debt. This means at $3.64 BioLife essentially has a market capitalization of just $30M.

Even without a commercially approved drug BioLife is already generating close to $9M in revenue per year and closing in on profitability. The approval of just 1-2 of its clients would provide a major boost for BioLife's core product revenue, and reinforce the viability of the company's long-term model

Da ist wohl dem 3D-Sektor ob Gewebe, Kunststoff oder Metall, die Luft ausgegangen. Zu Beginn geht es doch immer etwas rund, oder?

Wenn ich mir Exone ansehe, federt dieses ding ja heute ganz schön wieder zurück. Hier sind wir sogar beim Ausgangsniveau gelandet.
Ich würde mal sagen, dass jetzt die Investierten wieder versuchen wie zu Beginn der Rally einzusteigen und die, die nicht investiert waren und dem alten Niveau und der verpassten Chance den letzten Wochen hinterher weinten, jetzt kaum noch zögern können, oder?

Wie auch immer, ich denke der Boden wird bald gefunden sein. Vielleicht ist auch einfach durch den warmen Frühling und die wirklich unnötige politische Krise der "Sell In May And Go Away"-Effekt doch schon früher eingetreten? Und auch wenn sämtliche Faktoren zusätzlich mit einfließen, wie massenhaft Gewinnmitnahmen (das durchaus verständlich ist bei diesem Fortschritt)..folglich.. geplatzte Euphorie und Panik.., wer von uns kann das schon genau sagen. Nun stellt sich mir dennoch die Frage ...wie weit sind diese Faktoren bereits im Kurs eingespeist?

Ich werde den Markt noch etwas beobachten aber es kribbelt in den Fingern und ich freue mich sehr über solche Einstiegs-Chancen, wer weiß ob wir diese noch einmal sehen werden :) und wenn doch gibt es immer noch ein Money Management

Die Talfahrt dürfte nun beendet sein, nun geht es mal wieder in die Berge hoch. ;-))

Werde ONVO allerdings weiter beobachten und evtl. wieder einsteigen...

Vermutlich beginnt sie ab heute abend mit dem Anstieg auf 10USD ;-)  

Scheint zu klappen, hättest du nich eher verkaufen können? ;))

Ein ziemlich günstiger Wert im 3D Druck u.a. ist cimatron (CIMT),nur 70 Mio wert,aber bereits fette Gewinne am Start mit KGV 12,warscheinlich sind da die langfristigen Aussichten für die aktie besser als bei ONVO,hm ?! Auf der anderen Seite ,wenn der CEO solche aussagen macht wie "Vielleicht werden wir NIE in der Lage sein menschliche Organe zu drucken,aber egal!",dann braucht man nicht lange auf sehr viel günstigere einstiegskurse warten ! Ich persönlich warte mal auf Kurse von 2 oder unter 2 dollar bei ONVO .....

Now It is Time to Commercially De-Liver for Organovo!

A large-scale commercial application of 3D bioprinting seems now to be within reach for Organovo, the only public bioprinting company in the world, based in San Diego (CA).

One of the main areas of research and development for Organovo has been the 3D reproduction — with its own bioprinters and using hydrogels as bioink — of liver tissue. The company began testing medication on 3D printed liver cells last November and is now about ready to enter into commercial contracts with some of the most important global pharmaceutical companies.

This basically means it will be selling its 3D printed liver tissue to companies that need to test their new drugs on it. The process will start with a few selected clients, prior to full release.

“Organovo has received interest in advance of our planned launch from 15 top pharma company customers, small to midsize pharma companies, biotechnology companies and private venture capital backed pharmaceutical development firms,” Organovo’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Keith Murphy, commented.

Organovo is certain – and it would be difficult to disagree – that its 3D Human Liver tissue model represents a new approach to the drug toxicity discovery and development process, one that will provide significant added value to preclinical assessment studies.

Although it may seem incredible (though that word, in the 3D printing industry, has somewhat lost its original meaning), the long lasting viability and function of the tissue allows for extended study durations in vitro, enabling the assessment of the effects of low doses and reposted dosing regimens, across a spectrum of biochemical, molecular and histologic end points.

Nachdem Organovo schon zugegeben hat,vielleicht nie in der Lage zu sein komplette menschliche Organe drucken zu können,muss man sich einfach mal überlegen was diese Bewertung von 700 mio-Dollar überhaupt noch soll ? Eine andere Biotechcompany,die ebenfallss mit 700 Mio Börsenwert vor wenigen Jahren gestartet ist,ist aktuell noch 3 Mio wert,aber möglicherweise auf einem erfolgreicheren Weg menschliche Organe (neo-organs) in clinical trials zu züchten als Organovo,es sind sogar noch 15 mio Cash vorhanden,kurzum,ich würde mir scharf eine Umschichtung überlegen,bevor ich riskiere mit Organovo alles zu verlieren,dann nähme ich doch liebver den Wert,der nach anfänglichem Hype schon (fast) alles verloren hat (!) und setze auf Turnaround,hm ?!! Hier der Chart,der titel heisst "Tengion" (TNGN):

Aber der Firma Tengion geht es doch laut Annual Report 1st Quarter 2014 mindestens bis Ende 2014 schlecht, da diese jetzt im Dritten Jahr Mise Machen, 20-25 MUSD. Oder hab ich das falsch verstanden?  

Immer noch ein höchst interessantes Investment. Ich bleibe drin.

On July 24, 2014, Organovo Holdings, Inc. (the "Company") announced that it has entered into an agreement with Janssen Research and Development (JRD), a pharmaceutical company of Johnson & Johnson, to evaluate the use of 3D bio-printed tissue in a drug discovery setting, outside of the Company's work in 3D liver tissue for toxicity testing. Terms have not been disclosed.
