Horisont Energi: First-half year 2021 results

Sandnes, Norway – 25 August 2021 – Horisont Energi (EURONEXT: HRGI) today
reported its first-half year results. Horisont Energi is in a project
development phase and consequently had no income in the first half of 2021. The
net loss was NOK 16.4 million.

“During the first half year of 2021, we have delivered on our promises and
positioned Horisont Energi as a European clean ammonia and carbon storage
company, and more specifically positioned the Barents Blue project as a key
hydrogen project,” says Bjørgulf Haukelidsæter Eidesen, CEO of Horisont Energi.

The company has a solid financial position with a total of NOK 117 million in
cash and expects to have sufficient resources to bring the Barents Blue project
up to investment decision by end of 2022, based on current plans.

Highlights of the first half 2021:
• Listed on Euronext Growth Oslo in January
• Signed cooperation agreement with Equinor May 19th for the Polaris offshore
storage project
• Developed a novel system design for the first world-scale blue ammonia plant
in Europe together with Haldor Topsoe
• Signed EPC Onshore Concept Studies with Saipem and Technip Energies
• Entered into various agreements with industry-leading companies such as Baker
Hughes, Knutsen Group and TGS
• Selected Markoppneset, in Hammerfest municipality, as the preferred site for
the Barents Blue plant. This will be confirmed at decision gate 2 (concept
selection, expected February 2022)
• Initiated pre-FEED studies for Barents Blue with an Enova grant of NOK 10
million to contribute to the development of the innovative clean ammonia system
• Matured our carbon removal business, which will contribute to EU’s carbon
removal strategy. We have entered into several partnerships in this field, and
also developed a legislative proposal for sustainable carbon capture and storage
• Signed letters of intent with major European companies for commercial carbon
storage

Highlights after the end of the period:
• Signed memorandum of understanding with Port of Rotterdam to set up a corridor
for transport of blue ammonia from Norway
• Signed memorandum of understanding with St1 Nordic Oy for the joint
development of a green ammonia project in Finnmark, Northern Norway

Market outlook
EU’s Green Deal target of 55% reduction by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050
established the framework for the coming years’ regulations and activities, as
well as future demand for carbon neutral products and carbon storage solutions:

• Shipping is proposed to be a part of the EU’s Emissions Trading System (ETS)
quota system, further driving the transition to clean maritime fuels.
• Through the carbon adjustment mechanism (CBAM), announced in July, grey
ammonia imported into the EU is proposed to be tolled at the border on equal
terms as the EU’s current grey ammonia production, which is already a part of
the EU’s ETS. With ETS quota cost above 50 EUR/ton of CO2, this is a significant
contribution to the economics of clean fuels, such as carbon neutral or clean
ammonia from the Barents Blue project.
• The CO2 emissions in the EU amounted to more than 3,000 million tons in 2019.
Present known planned storage capacity is less than 10 million tons in 2025 and
around 20 million tons in 2030. In that perspective, the demand for carbon
storage among industries and power plants in EU will far exceed known planned
storage capacity, leaving great room for CO2 storage companies delivering
flexible and cost-effective solutions to European industry and power plants.

23.12.22 17:01
SANDNES, Norway – 22 December 2022 – Horisont Energi (EURONEXT: HRGI) and Koole
Terminals B.V. (Koole Terminals), a leading independent provider of integrated
services for storage, processing, and logistics, today announced a collaboration
agreement to develop a logistic value chain for clean ammonia.

In the fall of 2021, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding to
collaborate on the development of a terminal and storage facility at the Port of
Rotterdam. The terminal will receive clean ammonia produced and shipped from the
clean ammonia plant Barents Blue located in Finnmark, in the north of Norway.
This cooperation agreement is a continuation of the memorandum of understanding.
It will now include a broader scope of work to develop an international logistic
value chain for clean ammonia. This is a big step for Horisont Energi and the
commercialization of the Barents Blue project in order to serve the market and
potential end-users of clean ammonia in Europe and other parts of the world.

The cooperation agreement will include the following scope of work:
• Establish an import terminal in the Port of Rotterdam for storage and handling
of clean ammonia for onward inland and continental Europe onward seabound
distribution, in the concept of comingled storage, built, owned, and operated by
Koole, with Horisont Energi being one of the major launching customers
• Establish ammonia bunkering capabilities in the Port of Rotterdam, built,
owned, and operated by Koole Terminals, with Horisont Energi being one of the
major launching customers
• Establish import terminals across various European ports for storage and
handling of ammonia for onward inland distribution, in the concept of comingled
storage, built, owned, and operated by Koole Terminals, with Horisont Energi
being one of the major launching customers
• Develop full logistics value-chain, one-stop-shop solutions towards ammonia
offtakers, including services like shipping, storage, pipeline connection,
onward logistics by railcar or truck and potential cracking into hydrogen

“This cooperation agreement with Koole Terminals is an important step for the
clean ammonia logistics in our projects and for Horisont Energi. To serve the
market with clean ammonia, we are eager to start the work to develop a full
logistic value chain. This will ensure transport, receipt, and delivery of clean
ammonia to different industries and to the markets in the years to come. The
green shipping industry is of special interest to us and with the Fuel EU
Maritime Initiative moving towards approval next year, this agreement is also
important seen in a larger context. We look forward to continuing the good
cooperation with Koole Terminals - time is off essence," says Bjørgulf
Haukelidsæter Eidesen.

“We’re working closely together with various launching customers for our
Rotterdam ammonia and carbon dioxide terminal. Horisont Energi is among the
first and most developed. We cherish the good partnership and working relation
and see them as one of the frontrunners in providing clean energy and
decarbonisation solutions. The next years will require rapid infrastructure
development and investment decisions from all players in the value chain. We
stand together with Horisont Energi in driving the energy transition forward,”
says Tamme Mekkes, Business Development Director of Koole Terminals.

The Barents Blue project is Europe’s largest clean ammonia production facility,
being the first world scale ammonia factory in Europe. The factory will produce
ammonia based on natural gas from the Barents Sea. During the production
process, CO2 will be captured and transported to an offshore reservoir called
Polaris, where it will be permanently stored beneath the seabed. The EFTA
Surveillance Authority (ESA) and the EU Commission has approved the Barents Blue
project under the IPCEI Hydrogen program, also known as Hy2Use.

06.01.23 18:47
SANDNES – 6 January 2023 – Horisont Energi (EURONEXT: HRGI) has entered into an
option agreement with Haugaland Næringspark to locate the land-based CO2
terminal for the Errai carbon capture and storage project to Gismarvik in
Rogaland, where Haugaland Næringspark has one of Norway's largest industrial
areas. The infrastructure is already in place in the area, with access to fibre,
electricity, water, and sewage, and a large harbour basin with deep-sea quay
ideal for the Errai project. The CO2 terminal will receive CO2 from both
European and Norwegian customers, including from the planned CO2 terminal in the
Port of Rotterdam.

Errai is the first commercial CO2 storage project in Norway, and it can have a
major impact on the development of the carbon market in Europe. The project is a
collaboration between Horisont Energi and Neptune Energy.

- We are pleased to announce this agreement with Haugaland Næringspark after a
thorough process to find a suitable site for this large carbon capture and
storage project. This will be an exciting contribution to the work of developing
new green industry and infrastructure in Rogaland. We see increasing demand for
CO2 storage in Europe and we will build up a European value chain in the market
for carbon capture and storage. This can play a key role in the transition to
net zero emissions," says Bjørgulf Haukelidsæter Eidesen, Managing Director of
Horisont Energi.

In addition to the onshore terminal for intermediate storage and the quay
facility, the Errai project will also include an associated offshore reservoir
for permanent storage of CO2.

- This is an important step for the development of large-scale carbon capture
and storage and paves the way for a value chain that is crucial for reaching the
climate target of net zero emissions by 2050. We look forward to leveraging both
our oil and gas operations capabilities as well as our significant experience
from the operating carbon capture and storage activities.” Says Odin Estensen,
Neptune Energy´s Managing Director of Norway and UK.

The Errai project is a key contributor to Neptune´s goal of storing more than
carbon is emitted from the production and use of its sold products by 2023.

Horisont Energi and Neptune Energy have already applied to the Ministry of
Petroleum and Energy for storage of CO2 in the announced area on the Norwegian
continental shelf. The award of a licence from the Ministry of Petroleum and
Energy is expected to be announced during the first half of 2023. The project
will be in operations in 2026.

The planned CO2 terminal at Gismarvik will have a design that meets the
requirements of the EU taxonomy regarding environmental issues and safety. Errai
can store between four and eight million tonnes of CO2 per year, with the
possibility of storing more in later phases of the project. Horisont Energi
recently announced that E.ON will store more than 1 million tonnes of CO2
annually in Errai.

The CO2 terminal with the planned offshore infrastructure represents new
industrial opportunities for Haugaland Næringspark and other industries in
Haugalandet.

- It is a pleasure to start the year by consolidating Haugalandet and Rogaland
as the centre of the green shift in Norway. This agreement means that the region
now has an important part of the infrastructure for CO2 capture and storage. The
establishment does not require the largest areas in the business park but is of
great importance to decarbonise and restructure existing industry and to
facilitate new industrial establishments and jobs. We are really looking forward
to the cooperation and look forward to the dialogue with industry players who
with this news see even more opportunities with us, says Tiril Fjeld, general
manager of Haugaland Næringspark.

In the autumn of 2022, Horisont Energi and Neptune Energy hosted a supplier
screening day. It was a successful event and there was great interest for the
new climate project in the supplier market. Horisont Energi and Neptune Energy
have recently awarded contracts for various concept studies for the early phase
of the project. In the future, further studies on environmental and safety
requirements in line with the EU taxonomy will be carried out.

Horisont Energi and Neptune Energy aim to deliver a project that meets future
environmental requirements and helps to set a standard for such facilities and
thereby become a reference project for CO2storage in a Norwegian and European
context.
