Quantum Rare Earth Developments Intercepts 54.13 M of 1.17% Nb2O5 in Nebraska Drilling
Heavy Rare Earth Oxide Enrichment Encountered in Niobium Zone
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - July 27, 2011) - Quantum Rare Earth Developments Corp. (TSX VENTURE:QRE)(OTCQX:QREDF)(FRANKFURT:BR3) ("Quantum", the "Company") is pleased to announce results for the first of five drill holes from the spring/summer 2011 exploration program at the Elk Creek Niobium – REE Project, located in southeastern Nebraska, USA.
Highlights from the current exploration include:
- NEC11-01: 235.22 m of 0.73% Nb2O5 and 0.43% TREO*,
- including 54.13 m of 1.17% Nb2O5 and 0.46% TREO; and
- the identification of a significant zone of Middle and Heavy Rare Earth (MHREO) mineralization of between 25%° to 35% MHREO*, with notable enrichment in Europium, Gadolinium, Terbium and Dysprosium, associated with the Elk Creek Niobium Deposit.
Drill hole NEC11-001 is one of five holes recently completed at the Elk Creek Project. Three holes were completed at the Elk Creek Niobium Deposit, one hole to the south of EC-93 (155.5 m of 2.7% TREO, see news release dated March 7, 2011), and one hole to test a unique aeromagnetic anomaly. For the remaining drill holes, results will be released upon their receipt. The company anticipates the resumption of drilling during early September.
Exploration at the Elk Creek Niobium Deposit was designed to accomplish several objectives:
- complete in-fill and step-out drilling, to potentially upgrade the current 43-101 Resource from Inferred to Indicated;
- expand the known niobium resource (News Release dated April 28, 2011: 80 MT of 0.62% Nb2O5 at a 0.4% Nb2O5 cut-off); and
- collect sufficient sample material for the initiation of characterization and process development studies of niobium ore from Elk Creek.
Drill hole NEC11-001 was drilled at a -70° inclination at a direction of 035° to a depth of 900.38 metres (a drill plan and cross-section are available on the company's website at http://www.quantumrareearth.com). The hole was drilled within the southeastern portion of the deposit at depth; results of niobium and the rare earth elements and their ratios are as follows:

Based on the deposits geometry, the drilled thickness is currently estimated at 60 per cent of the true thickness.
The identification of a new zone of Middle and Heavy Rare Earth Oxide (MHREO) enrichment associated with the higher grade portions of the niobium interval was identified within drill Hole NEC11-001. This zone will be further investigated via a review of mineralogy and historic results to determine its significance.
* A rigorous quality assurance and quality control protocol was established for the sampling program; and included the routine insertion of field duplicates, laboratory pulp duplicates, blanks and certified reference standards. All samples were shipped to, and analyzed by Activation Laboratories of Ancaster, ON using its method eight - major oxide, rare earths and trace element package by fusion ICP and ICP/MS in addition to niobium by XRF, and fluorine by method 4F-F.
* Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO) include: La2O3, Ce2O3, Pr2O3, Nd2O3, Sm2O3, Eu2O3, Gd2O3, Tb2O3, Dy2O3, Ho2O3, Er2O3, Tm2O3, Yb2O3, Lu2O3 and Y2O3.

Er schreibt: "The United States currently relies on imports from China and Brazil for rare earth metals, importing between 8,000 to 10,000 tons per year. More than 90% of these imports come from China. A recent find of rare earth metals in Nebraska by Quantum Rare Earth Developments Corporation has the potential to change this.[...] Although China will likely remain the largest exporter of rare earth metals to the United States, the domestic find of rare earth metals by Quantum may address this vulnerability."
endlich mal volumen hier drin
ganz normal is das net.

By Claire Courchane-The Washington TimesUpdated: 10:58 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 Quantum Rare Earths Developments Corp. Elk Creek, Neb. (population 112), may not be so tiny much longer. Reports suggest that the southeastern Nebraska hamlet may be sitting on the world’s largest untapped deposit of “rare earth” minerals, which have proved to be indispensable to a slew of high-tech and military applications such as laser pointers, stadium lighting, electric car batteries and sophisticated missile-guidance systems. Canada-based Quantum Rare Earths Developments Corp. last week received preliminary results from test drilling in the area, showing “significant” proportions of “rare earth” minerals and niobium. The only people more excited than Quantum? The residents of Elk Creek, where nearly one in seven people live under the poverty line, but whose economy has been booming ever since the company showed up late last year to start laying the groundwork for a possible mining bonanza.“It’s been a very, very positive experience for our community,” said state Sen. Lavon Heidemann, an Elk Creek farmer. “When Quantum came in here, they put money in the local community. And any time you have money flowing in a small town, that’s a positive.”The potential mining operation, the first in the U.S. in a decade, could have an international impact as well. U.S. officials and lawmakers in Congress have been eager to break the near monopoly on global production of the 17 rare-earth elements in China, which has shown its willingness to use its power in the market for political ends. Quantum acquired a circular piece of land - a bit more than 4 miles in diameter - near Elk Creek late last year. The land, which the U.S. Geological Survey projects may have one of the world’s largest deposits of niobium and rare earths, has since been poked, prodded and drilled to determine whether it held any niobium, which has never been mined in the U.S., or rare earths, which the U.S. has not mined in almost 10 years. The local buzz Boom times based on natural-resource strikes can disrupt a community and its economy, but it’s hard to find anyone in Elk Creek bad-mouthing the potential rare-earth bonanza.“The whole community is behind Quantum,” said Greg Krueger, a local contractor. “When the drillers showed up this spring, people just opened their arms up.”The town of Elk Creek consists of not much more than a Lutheran church, a village tavern and a grocery store called Scotty’s, owned by a local family. Even in the exploratory phase, Quantum has brought some big changes.“They’ve rented houses, they go to our local grocery store for their food, and straight off they signed all of their leases with local farmers, just like they promised,” Mr. Heidemann said. Mr. Krueger added that Elk Creek residents were eager to provide any help they could, including allowing the drills to be dragged across their land free of charge.“It was, ‘What do you need? Where do you need to stay?’ Nobody is pessimistic, as far as thinking, ‘They’re here to destroy things,’ ” Mr. Krueger said.“Elk Creek is a very small community,” he added. “And [Quantum] has provided a lot of business.”The minerals http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/aug/2/...-nebraska-boomtown/
sehr gut. danke für den link.
grob zusammen gefasst. positive aspeckte:
