make 'shocking' moves
The deputy chairman of the Pacific Century CyberWorks Limited, Francis Yuen
said the merged entity between it and C & W HKT (0008-HK) will be able to
accomplish deals which amaze people in terms of sizes and speed. Sources
said PCCW will announced next week that it will form an alliance with an
Japanese content provider to launch broadband its multi-media service NOW in
Japan. In addition, the chief executive of C & W HKT, Linus Cheung, will
become the deputy chairman of the new entity. The deputy CEO and financial
director, David Prince will turn chief financial officer.
Yuen also told wire service Reuters that PCCW (1186-HK) will concentrate on
three main fields of business including C & W HKT-related business which will
be the major source of income and profit of PCCW in short term; the joint
venture with Telstra and also its broadband services.
