COSTA RICA: Gamesa has won an order to supply turbines with a capacity of 50MW for a wind farm in Costa Rica after the Import Export Bank of America (Ex-Im) agreed a loan for the deal.

The Orosi wind farm in the province of Guanacaste will feature G87 2MW turbines made at Gamesa's Pennsylvania factory....The bank said it agreed the loan in order to support American jobs at Pennsylvania factory, which has already seen several rounds of job cuts, with hundreds of positions lost.

The company will fit 64 G97-2.0 MW wind turbines in Rio Grande do Norte state and will maintain them for 10 years.
Gamesa continues to consolidate its presence in Brazil, where it has secured contracts for over 1,000 MW.
The parties have also agreed the installation of another 10 MW in Turkey.

Spanish wind group Gamesa has won a contract to build and equip a 50MW wind farm in India.
Gamesa will develop the project in Kosegaon, in the state of Maharashtra, for Indian power-producer Green Infra.

The plant will use 25 of the company’s G97-2.0 MW wind turbines and is expected to be finished by mid-2014.

Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has signed a framework agreement with EDP Renovaveis (EDPR) for the supply of up to 450 MW through 2016 in the US.

Under terms of the agreement, Gamesa will supply up to 225 of Gamesa G114-2.0 MW wind turbine generators in wind projects that the EDP Renovaveis (EDPR) plans to build in the country. The contract with Globeleq Mesoamerica Energywill allow the Spanish company to set up 25 of its G87 2MW wind turbines at the project location in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica.

Gamesa will likely additionally create much of the necessary infrastructure for the premises which includes a substation, a high-tension line and grid connection.

The Orosí wind farm is anticipated to be finished in late 2014 or early 2015. The contract includes a five-year operations and maintenance arrangement.

Gamesa has in the past finalized the 116MW Cerro de Hula wind farm in Honduras and the 44MW Eolo venture in Nicaragua for GME.

IBERDROLA has extended by 22 MW the capacity of its La Ventosa wind power complex, one of its most emblematic renewable facilities in the Americas, taking it up to 102 MW.

To this end, it has installed on the site 11 state-of-the-art Gamesa G80 wind turbines, each with 2 MW unit capacity and standing 78 metres tall......

Thu Dec 5 2013, Wind developer Gestamp has awarded a 128MW turbine contract for five Brazilian projects to fellow Spanish company Gamesa, despite having previously announced Vestas as the chosen supplier for three of those projects.

Gamesa will fit 64 G97-2.0 MW wind turbines at five sites making up the Lagoa Nova wind complex in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Specifically, the projects are Santana I (20 MW), Santana II and III (30 MW each), Lanchinha (28 MW) and Pelado (20 MW). The wind turbines will be delivered throughout 2014 with commissioning, also charged to Gamesa, expected at the end of that year.  Gamesa will also services the complex for 10 years.

The prototype of Gamesa’s new G114-2.0 MW turbine, recently installed in Alaiz (Navarre, Spain), has started to generate power.

Installation of the turbine finished in early December, triggering the start of the intensive process of validating and certifying the new turbine. The company expects to obtain type certification during the first quarter of 2014.

Assembly of the prototype posed a genuine logistics challenge for Gamesa: the G114-2.0 MW’s blades –56 metres each one- were transferred in one piece and the components were manufactured in multiple locations in Spain: blades in As Somozas (Galicia), nacelle assembly in Ágreda (Soria),hub and gearbox in Burgos, generator in Reinosa (Cantabria) and converter in Valencia.

Two other prototypes are installed at the Alaiz R&D facility: the G128-4.5 MW, with 62.5-metre blades, and the G90-2.0 MW class I, with 47-metre blades.

With a rotor spanning 114 metres, the new turbine’s swept area is 38% greater than that of the G97-2.0 MW, while it produces 20% more energy a year.

The G114-2.0 MW wind turbine, designed to maximise the performance of turbines installed in less windy sites, is part of the company’s 2.0-2.5 MW platform, whose track record encompasses the installation of more than 15 GW worldwide and an availability record of over 98%.

has closed* the sale of two wind farms located in Germany, with aggregate installed capacity of 18.5 MW, to HT Aiwanger, an investor group.

The Ringstedt II wind farm (10 MW) is located in Landkreis-Cuxhaven (Lower Saxony) and is equipped with five G80-2.0 MW turbines. The Gross Hasslow facility (8.5 MW), meanwhile, in Ostpringnitz-Ruppin (Western Pomerania), comprises 10 G58-850 kW WTGs. Both facilities were developed and are operated by Gamesa.

Gamesa has been active in the German market since 2003. In its capacity as developer, the company has developed and commissioned over 255 MW in in this market where it currently has a pipeline of close to 300 MW at varying stages of development. In its capacity as manufacturer, it has installed 177 MW of its turbines and operates 93 MW under O&M agreements.

die 7,60 € waren ein hartes Stück Arbeit. Nach der 8,80€ ist für mich charttechnisch der nächsten massiven (!) Widerstand dann bei ca. 16,80 €! Bei weiteren guten News und Gesamtlage sollte alles "dazwischen" keine große Hürde darstellen.

(Reuters) - French state-controlled nuclear group Areva and Spanish wind turbine maker Gamesa are in advanced talks over a joint venture in offshore wind turbines, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter said on Friday.

Both firms would hold a 50 percent stake in the new entity, which would focus on expanding the promising but capital-intensive offshore windfarms business, one of the sources said.

Areva and Gamesa declined to comment on the potential deal but both have been tipped in the past to be exploring partnerships in offshore wind.

"In offshore you need a strategic partner. Without a deal, Gamesa would have fallen behind," said Intermoney analyst Alvaro Navarro.He added that in Europe, around a third of the new capacity that will be installed over the next years will be offshore.

....Areva, which builds nuclear reactors and mines uranium, is struggling to diversify into offshore wind energy. It does not make onshore turbines.

Only six percent of its 9.34 billion euro revenue in 2012 came from its renewables arm, which has been loss-making since 2010 when Areva started reporting the unit's results separately...Areva has teamed up with French gas and power group GDF Suez for a French tender to build 1,000 megawatts (MW) of offshore wind capacity ..of which 500 MW is off Le Treport in northern France and 500 MW off the islands of Noirmoutier and Yeu.

Areva will develop an 8 MW turbine for that tender, one of the largest in the world.

Gamesa, 19.7 percent owned by Iberdrola, has stepped up efforts to expand abroad since the Spanish government, in July 2013, passed a tough energy reform which cut back public subsidies to clean energy producers.

The firm had 2012 sales of 2.8 billion euros and posted a net loss of 659 million euros, its first loss in a decade, Reuters data show.

The world's No. 4 wind turbine maker, Gamesa has already installed almost 27,000 MW of onshore turbine capacity worldwide and is now developing an offshore turbine with a capacity of 5 MW. The firm is also considering a more powerful 7-8 MW model.

Die Pläne Arevas, in die Offshore-Märkte Großbritannien und Frankreich einzusteigen, sollen fortgeführt werden. Dafür gehört vor allem der Aufbau einer Windturbinen- sowie einer Rotorblattfertigung in Le Havre sowie die Ansiedlung eines Zulieferer- und Partnernetzwerks.

Iberdrola hat zusammen mit Gamesa, REE und Technology Research Institute (ITI) an der Universität von Comillas, den erfolgreichen Abschluss der Demonstrationsprojekt Sysermind gemeldet.

Genauer gesagt, hat das Projekt 15 Windparks Iberdrolas in Andalusien, die mit Gamesa Windkraftanlagen ausgestattet sind, mit einer Gesamtleistung über 480MW ,mit drei Knoten des Übertragungsnetzwerks der 400-kV-Verbindung ausgestattet ,betrieben von REE.Diese wurden mit den oben genannten Syserwind Systemen ausgestattet,.......

SPAIN: After a three-year patent battle, the Barcelona commercial court has dismissed appeals by Gamesa questioning a European patent on "storm control ", validated in Spain and owned by Enercon founder Aloys Wobben.....
Operation of wind projects using the Gamesa turbines is also considered an infringement. This means the patent owner's authorisation is required to operate them until the patent expires.
Storm control allows a wind turbine to continue operation under adverse high wind conditions, Enercon explained.

The Court requires the Gamesa companies that were sued by Wobben to pay indemnity for damages of more than EUR 7 million, "which could be one of the highest ever in patent litigation in Spain", and Gamesa has also been ordered to pay the legal costs, added Enercon.
