Envoy announces record year end results
       MONDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2000 5:04 PM
- PRNewswire

TORONTO, Dec 11, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Geoffrey Genovese, President and CEO of Envoy Communications Group (NASDAQ: ECGI / TSE: ECG) today announced the Company's financial results for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2000. Through both strong organic growth and strategic international acquisitions, Envoy's EBITDA increased 39% to $10 million and Net Revenue rose by 40% to $58.6 million.

Over the course of the last year, Envoys results have been driven by solid organic growth rates as well as through international, strategic acquisitions in each of its core disciplines - Design, Marketing and Technology. Envoy's focus on an expanded global presence, commitment to "best of breed" services, and efforts to integrate and cross sell its services are all directed at further improving the Company's organic growth rates.

"2000 was yet another year of solid growth for Envoy," said Genovese. "This year Envoy achieved several impressive milestones: we hit our target of $10 million in EBITDA and exceeded our projection of a $100 million net revenue run rate for the business. Last year, we also stated our intent to expand geographically, specifically into the U.K. and Europe. This was accomplished through the addition of offices in London, Stockholm, Rome, Paris, Hamburg, and Leeds."

In 2000, Envoy's Design Company, Watt International, continued its impressive track record of organic growth and expanded its international reach with new offices in San Francisco, Leeds, London, Paris, and Stockholm, now employing over 280 people.

From its operations in New York and Toronto, Envoy's marketing discipline grew in 2000 and will be substantially enhanced with the recently announced acquisition of UK-based Leagas Delaney, one of the world's top-five creative agencies. With offices in London, Hamburg, Rome, Paris and San Francisco, Leagas Delaney brings a number of marquee, international clients and leading edge creative services to Envoy's marketing group and expands our staff complement to over 475 people. The Leagas Delaney acquisition is scheduled to close by March 30, 2001.

Envoy's technology discipline also experienced strong growth in 2000. Strong organic growth rates at its Devlin Design / Sage Consultants operation were a key indicator of the market's acceptance for our front-end and back-end e-business solutions. Envoys technology business now operates offices in Toronto and New York, employing over 100 professionals.

Financial highlights (CDN $'000's)
Effective with this year end report for fiscal 2000, Envoy now reports its net revenue (previously gross margin) as its first line item on its Income Statement and has removed gross revenue. This will enable analysts and our shareholders to better compare our company performance measures to our comparable competitors in the US market.

Envoy Company wins project with "The Co-operators"
       FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 02, 2001 4:00 PM
- PRNewswire

TORONTO, Feb 2, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Geoff Genovese, CEO of Envoy Communications Group (NASDAQ: ECGI / TSE: ECG) today announced the Company's wholly owned subsidiary, Sage Information Consultants, has been awarded a contract to convert The Co-operators General Insurance Company's (CGIC) enterprise Operating System to Windows 2000. This announcement comes on the heels of Sage Information Consultants winning three U.S. based contracts to provide leading application development and infrastructure solutions to Pitney Bowes (NYSE: PBI), The NPD Group and Oxygen Media. Sage has increased its staff by 15% to service the dramatic increase in business.

Sage will convert 4000 CGIC users to Windows 2000. The conversion will provide CGIC with applications, tools and service capabilities not afforded with their current Operating System. As the North American leader in infrastructure architecture and design, Sage will provide the methodology, resources and leadership to guide CGIC through this project.

"Sage obviously did their homework and choosing them to lead the planning and analysis phase of our Windows 2000 initiative was a logical outcome," said Peter Tingley, I.S. Systems Services Director for The Co-operators. "Sage understood our business needs and, combined with demonstrated migration experience, MS Certification and a well defined project approach and methodology, they quickly outlined how we could move ahead with this complex infrastructure undertaking."

"For a number of years, Sage Information Consultants has been a key Managed Partner servicing Microsoft Canada's Enterprise customers. We partner with Sage often because they see the value in training their staff on Microsoft's products and vision," said Frank Clegg, President of Microsoft Canada.

"This is a great endorsement of our back-end e-commerce expertise at Sage," said Genovese. "Envoy is experiencing strong organic growth in each of its core disciplines -- Marketing, Technology and Design -- a fact which speaks volumes about our convergent business model."

Envoy closes International Design Group (IDG) acquisition
       MONDAY, FEBRUARY 05, 2001 4:00 PM
- PRNewswire

TORONTO, Feb 5, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Geoff Genovese, President and CEO of Envoy Communications Group (NASDAQ: ECGI / TSE: ECG) today announced that Envoy has closed the acquisition of The International Design Group (IDG), a world- renowned retail planning and design firm. This acquisition is part of Envoy's aggressive, global growth strategy. The cash and stock deal was first announced in September 2000.

IDG will operate as a division of Watt International and will complement Watt's internationally recognized creative services with almost 30 years of shopping centre and retail design experience. The organization has undertaken projects in countries around the world, including Argentina, Canada, Chile, Germany, Israel, Poland, Turkey, UAE, UK and the US. IDG's international credits include the design of the Metro Centre in the UK, for ten years the largest shopping centre in Europe; the Alto Los Condos in Chile, the largest shopping centre in South America and Duty Free outlets from Istanbul to Jakarta. In Canada, IDG's design successes include the LCBO, the world's largest retailer of wines and spirits, the Air Canada Centre's Sports Centre and Paramount Theatre's flagship Festival Hall and Silver City multi-plexes. IDG is ranked in the top 50 design firms in the world according to World Architecture Magazine and won the 1999 Retail Council of Canada's Design Award of the year for their work on Quebec's La Maison Simon.

"Envoy's branding and design discipline under the Watt International banner has taken a tremendous leap towards delivering 'best of breed' services around the world and the closing of the IDG acquisition certainly supports that goal," stated Genovese. Adding, "As we focus on continued organic growth this year, IDG, with its excellent reputation and unparalleled experience, will be a tremendous asset going forward. Of note, we also expect to see cost savings for the new business as we merge IDG into existing Watt facilities."
