CEPSA REPORTS
THIRD QUARTER 2009 EARNINGS
• Adjusted net income in the first three quarters of 2009 totaled 212 million euros, 39% lower than
in the same period of last year
• Regarding adjusted operating income (EBIT), the figure for the first nine months of 2009
amounted to 374 million euros, evidencing a year-on-year decline of 43%
• Adjusted EBITDA stood at 838 million euros, sliding 22% from the same period last year
• Throughout the nine-month period, CEPSA assigned 697 million euros in capital and exploration
expenditures. These investments were primarily earmarked towards expanding exploration
activity in upstream (E&P) operations, increasing production of gas oils at the La Rábida and
Gibraltar-San Roque Refineries, upgrading the Company’s energy efficiency and competitiveness
in its downstream (R&M) segment, completing the Algeria-Spain deepwater gas pipeline and
building new cogeneration units in the Gas & Power segment
